JCM, you forgot breakfast! Had to make a quick addition.

I've seen conservative media sites noting more and more writers talking about dumping Kamala Harris (one such example is here), and this sets us up for the conspiracy theory move:

Biden drops Kamala, invites Gavin Newsom to be VP, and then Biden either dies in office or is removed by impeachment or infirmity. Newsom becomes president without having to do hardly any work.

Highly likely, or crackhead pipe dream?

And to demonstrate his leadership skills, Newsom announces $267 million for a program to combat organized retail theft after his party demanded fewer police and continued to watch big cities like San Francisco slide into third-world hellholes.

In other news, the Girl Scouts chapter of Northern California has put out a Camp Culture code. This article goes into it and points out the antiracism and LGBTQIA++++ support. But I want to point out something else. I'm going to copy the entire section of how they want girls to celebrate Pride Month to make sure you have the context:

The Girl Scout LGBTQ+ Pride Month Celebration Fun Patch is designed for Girl Scouts of all levels and their leaders to honor LGBTQ+ history, celebrate their diverse cultures and identities of LGBTQ+ people, and acknowledge the many contributions that the LGBTQ+ community has made and continues to make across our nation. Girls and leaders have plenty of activities to choose from to earn this fun patch and we encourage Girl Scouts of all identities to participate.

In order to earn the patch, the following must be accomplished:

    • Sketch a portrait of a member of the LGBTQ+ community who you admire.
    • Make a LGBTQ+ music playlist.
    • Create art that celebrates how families come in all kinds.
    • Participate in No Name-Calling Week, which is sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN).
    • Attend an LGBTQ+ Pride celebration.

Notice the first three bullet points. Depending on the age of the girls, I suppose it makes sense to have them find creative ways to "support" this movement. These are volunteer organizations, and the girls/parents choose to attend.

But what I'm noticing at the same time is that in higher ed, there is a similar move to have students in college-level courses do this kind of creative work and get college credit for it. I've seen some examples (which I now need to dredge up) of how this "creative" homework is letting students get by without demonstrating appropriate mastery of the topic. It's one thing if you are doing playlists and mixing audio because you are in a music program or musical tech program. I'm not sure I see this as being sufficiently rigorous for other fields, such as math in my own experience.

Let me go see if I can find some examples.

This isn't exactly what I had in mind, as it focuses on the LGBTQIA++++ issues and the supposed need for students to have professors who like/act like them. But it does demonstrate in one paragraph how students aren't recognizing what the key parts of their chosen field are: ‘Too rock heavy,’ too ableist, too white: Geoscience students identify concerns in field.

So far, haven't found the interpretive dance article....

Makes conspiratorial sense to me.

The other option is Obama, Michelle. She making the talk show circuit, team Obama is deeply embedded in team Biden.

Amazon disable commenting on it the book.

Seriously, author has to approve cover art.

How can could a credible historian approve a Pearl Harbor book with a German FW-190 on the cover.

I posted a story awhile back about a study on the risks of fentanyl use on the bus.

UW study finds drug residue lingers on public transit; health officials claim risk is low

Folks pointed a number of problems with the study, mainly sampling issues.

No the UW is defending themselves, most folks were pointing out sampling and statisical issues with the study, and whether the data set was useful in determining the level of risk for example, the samples where time based with no data on whether drug use occured during the sampling periods.

UW researchers stress transit study did not find 'no risk' from drug exposure

The question is not the risk of residual levels, what is the risk during active drug use, what is the use to drugs left on surfaces? Even a small amount of fentanyl in contact with the skin. That and Health Dept. has no credibility any longer.
