Touching base on Claudine Gay's announcement of stepping down as President, Stephen Kruiser noted that her resignation statement included the sentence "As I now return to the faculty, and to the scholarship and teaching that are the lifeblood of what we do, I pledge to continue working alongside you to build the community we all deserve." Wait--the plagiarizer is going to get to keep teaching and doing scholarship and potentially doing more plagiarism?

As Kruiser writes, "The terrorist sympathies of Gay and her ilk are despicable, and so is her penchant for plagiarism. In a world with even a little bit of sanity, that alone should disqualify her from working in Academia. Presently, however, we have a man in the White House who is not only a proven plagiarist, but who also routinely recounts stories about his life that couldn't possibly have happened. The guy repeatedly lies about where his son died.

"Gay's almost lateral movement in the wake of this scandal proves — once again — that standards don't exist on the Left.

"Academia won't be changed by booting out a few terrorist-loving, America-hating administrators. It needs a purge and it needs a fundamental restructuring."

I would like to see a careful cleaning out of academia, but to be honest I'm not sure it can happen as long as DEI is still in power. And the tentacles of DEI are very entrenched in higher ed right now. I'm guessing DEI is why Gay still has a job as a professor given that she has broken one of the cardinal rules of citation required in scholarship.

It all goes back to ethics and honesty. The decline of the US started when moral training was removed from the education system. Until we require people to be held accountable for their behavior of lying, cheating, and stealing, not much will change. Starting with me--I need to make sure I give proper credit to every author I read online.

Say a prayer for Vodkapundit Stephen Green. His niece was murdered on New Year's, and she wasn't just a niece; she was part of the family. They are all grieving.

FBI Investigating Potential Act of Domestic Terrorism in Rochester, N.Y.

This is an odd way to commit suicide. So I can't help but wonder if someone suggested this method to him.

In the age of AI, there is great concern about making sure a photographer gets proper credit when he takes a picture, as opposed to the person who digitally altered the picture and then posts it wide and far. To that end, camera makers are trying to include digital "signatures" to provide verification that a picture is, indeed, authentic.

Fine, but the way this digital signature works is to incorporate the following information: date, time, location, and photographer's name. Well, this could be an issue if there is a great desire to NOT include the location (such as photographer's studio, which has been having security issues, say) or a photographer needs to prevent his name from going out for security reasons.

So while this claims to be about authenticating photos, it also raises more security issues.

David Strom has it right, I think: "Do the powers that be approve of voter fraud?

Watch what they do, not what they say. They will always tell you that it doesn’t happen, and if it happens it is wrong. But they do everything they can to make it easy to do and difficult to find, and as you can see in the case of Gloria Torres, they also reward the person who does it when they can get away with it." In this case, a convicted ballot harvester is named vice-mayor.

The solution is not hard, the fact there is opposition to every suggest means, vote fraud is part and parcel of the system is fully endorsed by both parties.

And we know vote fraud is enabled at multiple levels in the system: hardware, software, voter rolls, voting procedures, you name it.

It's not rocket surgery....

It's accounting.

To be over simplistic, but not by much.

I'd like to see "Twitter" X rename itself "PostFacto."  After all, most things posted on Twitter are reactions to things that have already happened...so, they are ex post facto.  And, supposedly, since everything on the Internet is true (or so, at least, we are told), then clearly anyone posting on "X" is posting facts.  Thus, it is all ex post facto(s).

Heh. That works very well.

You would think we would have reached the point where we wouldn't have to keep mentioning that Twitter is now X, but still every article I read mentions both names.

What about YouTube? Because somewhere in there I keep thinking the word "Narcissist" should be worked in. Not everyone posting to YouTube has something worth sharing; I get the feeling a lot of it is simply a mechanism to allow the video producer to attempt to generate interest in the vain hope that they will become An Item™️.

If it's happening in games, then it won't take much to have it travel over to the real world, or so the thinking goes.

Of course, if you don't want to be exposed, don't play online. But the idea of being a good citizen isn't as important to those in power as being able to bludgeon everyone else with accusations to control the polis.

Some people honoring Soleimani got to meet him

Two explosions caused by "terrorist attacks" killed nearly 100 people and wounded scores at a ceremony in Iran to commemorate top commander Qassem Soleimani who was killed in a 2020 US drone attack, Iranian officials said on Wednesday.

We certainly would not want a disproportionate response.
