A few years ago, I wrote an article which was about when Iran gets nukes and puts all their proxies under their nuclear umbrella, including launching nukes at any country that supports Israel...

And the person I sent it to thought it was absurd.

Does anyone here today think so?

Departed the aircraft. Is no more. Ceased to be. Expired and gone to meet its caster. Bereft of life. Rests in pieces. Pushing up rust. Its metallurgical processes are history. It's off the twig. Kicked the bolt bucket. Shuffled off the metal coil. Run down the curtain and joined the bleeding plane invisible.

"Embattled Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel will step down from her position after the South Carolina primary, according to reports. A New York Times source said she informed former President Trump of her decision to resign."

The article linked above by Paula Bolyard references work done by Jennifer Van Laar at RedState, who did serious digging into how McDaniels spent the party's money. It wasn't pretty.

According to Bolyard's article, Trump is going to make a recommendation after the SC primary and she writes that it is likely to be Michael Whatley, chairman of the NC GOP.

Is this the start of the new civil war? Biden to Send Troops to Stop Texas from Protecting the Southern Border

The left has been urging President Biden to federalize National Guard troops to reopen Texas's border where illegal immigrants have been overrunning the state. It appears Biden has begun the process of doing that by ordering the Alaska National Guard to get ready to deploy to the border in support of the federal government, not the security of the border.

Mark Steyn continues to be a bolt cutter against hte lies of Michael Mann. The defamation trial against Steyn finally started three weeks ago, and Steyn's opening statement started the cutting.

Go find your popcorn while you read Steyn's statement. I'll be working through it during breaks today.

I shared about that months ago, and to my knowledge nothing has been done to address this at all. I would love to be wrong about that.

Ace posted this story about how Van Jones and company are trying to push Biden to stop supporting Israel and instead support Hamas. Ace quoted a portion of the story, of which I have cut it down further to this:

Nihad Awad, the executive director of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), who infamously said that he was "happy" about Hamas' Oct. 7 jihad massacre of 1,200 Israelis, thundered at a November pro-Hamas rally: "No cease-fire, no votes. No votes in Michigan, no votes in Arizona, no votes in Georgia, no votes in Nevada, no votes in Wisconsin, no votes in Pennsylvania." These were, of course, the states that allowed Old Joe to pretend to be president over the last three years.

So we now have CAIR helping to steal elections for the Democrats as well now, it seems. I mean, it's really strange to make a connection between "ceasefire" and "votes."

Oh, there will always be people who don't see. Mostly those will be the younger folks who haven't lived through the process of watching CAIR cozen up to the DNC for the last twenty-plus years.

Roll back to your Chicago school reading level story.

To really "see" it, to KNOW it. A person has to read, history, philosophy, political philosophy. Not only read, but comprehend and synthesize into a coherent narative.

That used to be a "liberal education".

Not so much to train / teach a skill set. But to teach and train the mind to be able to THINK and apply logic, reasoning and a corpus of knowledge to virtually any subject.

I know I've posted this before, and it is not entirely on topic as it deals more with the utter silliness of the concept of regulating/controlling the planetary climate than it does with the falsified evidence and personal grudges of Mann v. Steyn.  Nevertheless, I think it is worth keeping in mind:

All the people who want to "regulate the planetary climate" and demand the power and unlimited resources to do so are people who have proven themselves incapable of competently managing and running recently-built, closed, man-made systems. They cannot competently run power grids, or municipal water systems or trash pickup; they cannot competently maintain, let alone repair, the "roads and bridges" they are always prating about; they cannot competently run or maintain the public housing they increasingly want people to live in, or the public transportation systems that they want people to rely on.

More than that; they cannot competently direct disaster recovery/relief from floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, wildfires, volcanic eruptions or earthquakes---let alone control or prevent such disasters.

Yet they want people to believe that they can, and should, be permitted to try and regulate the planetary climate, which is infinitely more subtle and varied and complex than any of the recently-built, closed, man-made systems they have already repeatedly proven incapable of managing.

To tie this back into the defamation trial--

Michael Mann doesn't necessarily seem to want to be the one to be in control, I don't think, although he does want to have prestige and power to help craft the science that is used to support those in power to grab more control.

What is noteworthy to me after listening to the re-enactments based on the transcripts of the hearing are that Mann is absolutely ruthless about attacking anyone who questions him in any way with as many ad hominem attacks as he can, but he is completely unable to accept  any criticism about his work without interpreting it as ad hominem attacks. He has the thinnest skin of anyone on the planet and does not follow the generally agreed upon ethic within science of criticizing the science but not the person. He goes out of his way to criticize the person directly and repeatedly.

He has done this in the past, making especially egregious slurs against Dr. Judith Curry.

In fairness, Tesla does pretty damn well in that category.
