I have a Dell laptop that was getting hard drive errors. They sent a replacement SSD, but it is marked "REFURBISHED".

I wonder if I should trust it?

Check the warranty, and see how long they will agree to replace it if it fails. Usually refurbished are less than a year, but if you can get by with that time period, go for it.

Brooklyn Elementary School Uses BLM Coloring Book to Radicalize Kids

How bad? First few paragraphs: 

Teachers at New York City Public School 321 are taking Black History Month very, very seriously.

Kindergarten through fifth-grade students were treated to a special coloring book from the child "educators" in Black Lives Matter. "What We Believe" tells the story of the radical group's founding and the 13 tenets of the Black Lives Matter movement. 

What are those "13 tenets"?  One tenet is “Queer Affirming,” Another is “Transgender Affirming,” and then there's “Restorative Justice.” Principle number 2, “Empathy,” is described as “engaging comrades with the intent to learn about and connect with their contexts.”

Don't connect with a human being. Connect with their "context" or where their grievance is coming from.

Get your kids and grandkids out of public schools.

The better idea; BE AWARE of what's going on in the public schools, and be ACTIVE about it.  

Not all public schools are uber-woke disasters.  And if we (our side) simply abandon them, we are giving up a HUGE amount of strategic space.

Fair point. But be prepared to fight every step of the way for every issue, because the entire culture is leftist. A lot of parents started homeschooling after COVID because they realized the insanity *was* in their schools and they were never made aware of it. I don't have that energy anymore and need to focus on other things. If you want to fight, fantastic.
