Heavily Jewish school district hides emails on censoring students for Holocaust Remembrance Day

Amid a surge of reported antisemitic incidents worldwide since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel, a wealthy suburban Chicago school district known for forcing students to take racially charged seminars also rejected their Holocaust Remembrance Day proposal.

...

Parents Defending Education filed an Illinois Freedom of Information Act lawsuit last week, seeking an order compelling the district to produce emails from 13 administrators, including equity liaisonsTimothy Hayes, Patricia Savage-Williams and Kiran Subhani from Jan. 1 to Feb. 15 that matched the terms "Holocaust," "Palestine" or "Gaza."

The district deemed the request "unduly burdensome" relative to "the public interest in the information" and denied it in full March 1, according to the Cook County Circuit Court complaint. That's balderdash, PDE said: "Both New Trier Township and New Trier High School have a substantial Jewish population."

This idea that you can avoid a FOIA lawsuit for anything other than a very few cases is an avoidance tactic. It doesn't bode well.

JCM, time for you to start watching this closely:

New RNC chief counsel Spies worked for Romney, Bush, DeSantis, downplayed 2020 election issues

Charlie Spies, the new Republican National Committee chief counsel, is an election lawyer who worked in support of presidential campaigns for Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Notably, Spies has long downplayed 2020 election issues as the GOP seeks to recapture the White House in the November election.

Last month, then-RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel resigned from her position, following poor fundraising hauls and three consecutive election cycles where Republicans underperformed, and was replaced by North Carolina Republican Party leader Michael Whatley as chairman and Lara Trump as co-chairperson.

After the new leadership was elected, new legal counsel was hired, including Spies as chief counsel, former President Donald Trump attorney Christina Bobb as senior counsel for election integrity, and Bill McGinley as outside counsel for election integrity.

...

In 2015, while Spies advised pro-Bush PACs, he filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against the Trump Organization. Spies alleged that Trump illegally used his business for campaign purposes when the Trump Organization’s general counsel sent cease-and-desist letters to the Right to Rise leadership PAC, the Club for Growth, and Bush donor Mike Fernandez.

Was he making the best legal case for his client, or does he have an agenda?

President Biden declines Comer's invitation to testify, refuses to answer written questions

President Biden formally declined House Oversight Chairman James Comer's invitation to testify before his committee Monday evening.

Comer invited Biden in late March to appear before his committee to address apparent discrepancies between the president's claims and evidence uncovered by his probe.

In a letter to the committee Monday, Biden's counsel criticized the Republicans' impeachment probe and claimed the testimony so far has only exonerated the president.

Gary Bauer has finally popped back up; he's doing a podcast that Just The News shares. In the latest episode, he and Tom Rose dissect Israel's strike against IRGC. I'm not going to have time to listen to it today, but wanted to at least share.

Judge Merchan Threatens Trump With Arrest

Yegads.

Donald Trump made an appearance in court on Monday for jury selection during his so-called "hush money" trial.

Judge Juan Merchan delivered a firm ultimatum to former President Donald Trump regarding his presence on the first day of his criminal trial. According to MSNBC's Jesse Rodrigeuz, Merchan told Trump he has to be in the courtroom every day for the duration of his trial.

"If you do not show up, there will be an arrest," Merchan warned.

The trial is expected to last six to eight weeks. The judge is essentially preventing Trump from campaigning for president.

In 2020, Merchan made a small donation to Joe Biden's presidential campaign. Despite this and other conflicts of interest, Merchan refused to recuse himself from the case.

...

Trump's request to attend his son's graduation ceremony was also denied.

(Bolding mine.)

It's shameful seeing how "our" media are framing things now as "will Israel escalate?!!".

No other country in the world would be expected to sit on their hands in this situation.

Historic Copenhagen stock exchange building badly damaged by fire.

I've only been to Copenhagen once, I don't specifically remember this building; but this looks like a real treasure was lost.

Copenhagen has a superb firearms museum, by the way.

Okay, someone else follow me to the link, and look at the picture of the dragon that is shown at the base of the spire (clearly before the fire). Is it just me, or do those look like Ferengi ears on the dragon? (If you aren't a Star Trek fan, that will probably make little sense.)

These people are insane.

Was looking at a Facebook post by a longtime friend, and one of the most brilliant cartoonists working today, and this post and its supporting comments came up.

Talk about living in an echo chamber.
