Morning, campers. I saw the posts at the end of the day yesterday about the food supply, and one thing I saw (at Conservative Treehouse) that wasn't seen anywhere else was how the free market would pivot from supplying so much food to restaurants to pushing that food through the groceries and markets. It wasn't going to happen immediately, but there was going to be a shift in how the food was packaged to address exactly the issue of where people are eating.

When I go to the store (which is infrequently, as the cook in my house has to get the food and that's my husband), the only thing I notice is that the dairy shelves are about half empty.

Dr. Atlas seemed to suggest that the actual public health emergency is one brought about by flawed and evidence-free government policies.

“The first fact is that the data shows that the fatality rate is far less, probably 1/10 or even lower than what was originally estimated. And that data comes from all over the world and all over the United States, and in fact, there’s something even morestriking about it, the fatality rate is very very low, extremely low…In fact, the reality is, and you get shamed for saying it, for people under 60, the fatality rate is less than or equal to the common flu.”

Food supply chain.

Here on the far side of the Sound, meat prices have increased by about a third.

A tri tip roast was selling for about $6.49/lbs before the ‘Rona disaster, and it is now selling for about $9.49/lbs.

The price of gas is starting to creep back up. $1.99/g gas was fun. It is now at $2.06/g. (At Costco) Other locations are on average, 30 cents higher.

Biden chaired Thomas' confirmation hearing.

His attitude toward Thomas was no different. Not the same words, but attitude. If you think that you aren't black.

Many of the comments at Politico piece support Biden.

The naked racism, the naked intolerance.

Black man killed by cops, Seattle

The usual racist baiting ruckus ensues. He was running from cops and was shot in the back they say.

Body cam proof Seattle police shooting justified, but activists pounce

Video at link shows he charged at officers with a knife.

The president of the Seattle King County NAACP Carolyn Riley-Payne claims this is just another racist incident where cops get away with shooting a black man.

“They had the right to shoot, but I don’t think they had a right to shoot to kill,” she told KOMO. “We are at the same place we always seem to get, an African-American man dead in the streets by the police.”

Exactly!  Why didn't they just, you know, shoot the knife out of his hand?!  I used to see T. J. Hooker do that all the time!

I had a right to shoot to kill

I had a right to lay him down

I had a right to place a round

Down around his liver

Have to keep order in this town

Can't have criminals runnin' round

Or else all there'll be is misery

I had a right to make him die

Now it's just time to say bye-bye

It's too bad you don't know why

And will be an unforgiver

Oh, yes, death is a tragedy

And I'd prefer it wasn't me

But when all's done, say what you will

I had a right to shoot to kill

I'm no expert, but it looks to me to be by-the-book use of force, no mistakes.  Verbal commands, then attempted to use the taser, only used lethal force when he was lunging at the nearest cop, with the knife.  I counted six shots fired, which given the immediacy of the threat, is reasonable.

But of course he was a gentle giant who was turning his life around, etc.
