Morning, campers. Since the beginning of the COVID craziness I haven't had anyone within my circle of acquaintances, friends, or family have any touch or a hint of COVID--until today. A coworker might have been exposed through extended family, so now he has to go get tested. Thankfully in Illinois there hasn't been the stench of 100% positive reporting of all COVID testing, so that's in his favor, but I'm pretty sure he's going to be told to stay isolated at home for two weeks. The question will be, how often will they test him.

Good morning.  Of a piece with the "Woke agrees with Racist" video lucius posted yesterday, I'll pass along this tidbit from Instapundit:

RACIST: BLACK PEOPLE CAN’T SPEAK PROPER ENGLISH. WOKE: BLACK PEOPLE CAN’T SPEAK PROPER ENGLISH. Rutgers English Department to deemphasize traditional grammar ‘in solidarity with Black Lives Matter.’

I recommend the Rutgers English Department instead hire this professor, to teach the young'uns through his tried-and-true method

My all time favorite "grammar nazi" and one of favorite professors was this huge guy, immigrant from Africa with a magnificent voice think James Earl Jones only even better. He had the tribal facial scars, Yoruba IIRC. He demand proper English from everyone. But boy did he light into any of the black students who dismissed the idea speaking and writing properly. He did it with humor and wit, but at the same time flay you to the quick.

“It ain’t your grandma, it’s your grammar” was, if I recall correctly, a jingle from one of the “Schoolhouse Rock” episodes from back in the 70s.

It was. If millennials had gotten more Schoolhouse Rock, they would be a lot less inclined to dismantle the Constitution because they would understand it.

Constitutional crisis looms over federal agents in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A potential constitutional crisis is looming over the actions of federal officers at protests in Oregon's largest city that have been hailed by President Donald Trump but were done without local consent. The standoff could escalate there and elsewhere as Trump says he plans to send federal agents to other cities, too.

In Portland, demonstrators who have been on the streets for weeks have found renewed focus in clashes with camouflaged, unidentified agents outside the city's U.S. courthouse. Protesters crowded in front of the courthouse and the Justice Center late Monday night, before authorities cleared them out as the loud sound and light of flash bang grenades filled the sky.

State and local authorities, who didn't ask for federal help, are awaiting a ruling in a lawsuit filed late last week. State Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum said in court papers that masked federal officers have arrested people on the street, far from the courthouse, with no probable cause and whisked them away in unmarked cars.

Local authorities failing to act to enforce laws, protect Federal properties, to PROTECT THE PEOPLE..... that is exactly when the Federal Government should act.

Watching Schoolhouse Rock now, it fairly drips with 1970s corduroy and macrame liberalism, but nowadays 90% of it would not pass muster with the wokestapo.

Well-put; and yes, indeed.   At the time, the center of gravity of the American Left did not hate the country, or Western civilization, generally.

1. The agents are not unidentified.

2. The agents are not masked.

3. Law enforcement uses unmarked vehicles every day.

4. An arrest can occur anywhere, not just at the scene of the alleged crime. Arresting a suspect when they're alone a few blocks away is safer for cops and suspects alike.

5. Just because the feds haven't informed you of the probable cause for arrest doesn't mean there isn't one.

6. They're being taken to the same place anyone arrested by federal agents is taken. This is not extraordinary rendition.

7. The federal government does not need permission from state or local government to enforce federal law and restore order.

I know you all know this. I'm just sick of the bullshit accusations. This will probably end up before an Obama appointee and the Trump administration will have to appeal it all the way to the Supreme Court, where it will prevail. Oregon and Portland officials know this - they're just trying to create chaos and disrupt the election.

But they are being “whisked“ away! Thereby violating the constitutional prohibition against whisking!

One commentator, a cop and swat officer looked at one the videos where the Feds walk up and escort a individual away. They did not cuff the person, the person cooperated. He thought that look like extraction of an undercover cop.

I saw that. It's certainly possible. I think it's good for the rioters to think there are undercover cops among them, even if there aren't. It will cause them to become suspicious of each other and therefore less effective as a team. And if there are undercover cops, I pray they stay safe and undetected.

But we have to keep whisking so they don't separate.

This Twitter thread is hilarious. Half of the commenters think the officers are all-MAGA members of "Trump's goon squad," rather than regular federal law enforcement. The rest think CBP officers are untrained military wannabes who like running around in uniforms and shooting people. Then there are the ones who think they know all about firearms - I'm no expert, but a lot of what they're saying sounds like bullshit to me.

Twitter can go f*ck themselves. If I used it much, I'd tell advertisers I won't do business with any company that advertises there

You see, the Star of David is a hate symbol to them
