The latest Trump scandal? The whatever he promised to a world leader... I think I see the story... Trump promised the President of Ukraine to investigate the allegation that Biden asked to have the Ukrainian prosecutor investigating his son fired. It's not a Trump scandal, it's part of the misdirection and cover up of the Obama / Biden corruption.

New Yorkers worried about having the mayor back in town mean for them! Heh. Boy, if you really wanted to see what a self-ego-stroking move looks like, De Blasio is your case study. Got in late, didn't make any waves that I could see, getting out early. He just wanted to put it on his resume. Morning, campers.

All true but in his eagerness he spilled the beans. IMAO. Ukraine doesn't like foreign interference in internal affairs. The President of Ukraine asks Trump to look into Biden's attempts to interfere in the investigation into Hunter's activities. A Obama deep state hold over "blows the whistle" to the IG, the seriousness the IG mentions isn't Trump, but Biden's actions. When the investigation stalls out a leaker runs the story up the media flag pole. It's all consistent with known deep state activities.

More amusing Cincy TV stuff- The Oktoberfest Zinzinnati starts today. It is widely acclaimed as being second only to the celebration in Munich. Fluffy newsbunny says this morning that it's the second largest IN THE COUNTRY! This literally begs several questions; 1. Does she think Munich is in the USA? 2. Is using 'z's instead of 'c's supposed to look more Teutonically authentic? 3. Why in Hades call it Oktoberfest when it's in SEPTFREAKINGTEMBER??? (Other towns in the area have their own starting in August fuhgoshsakes!)

Reply to revobob in 8: Traditionally, Oktoberfest ends on the first Sunday in October. It seems every city has one now, including Atlanta. There's a dreadful little fake German tourist village in North Georgia called Helen that's been doing it for years. The last time I was there, two and a half years ago, I fell and broke my front teeth (as a matter of fact, I had only had one glass of wine with lunch). Never going back.

On the other hand, there were many other aspects of the trip that made it an experience I'd rather forget. On the other hand, I've been to the Munich Oktoberfest twice and had a marvelous time.

(Kentucky sidebar- had some roof work on the garage done by a handyman pair, one of whom is Amish. In talking about things with them, it came out that the Amish refer to themselves as German and everyone else as English. So I asked how that covers me- pure German on father's side, but not Amish. Reply to lucius septimius in 16: The little city of Orange, KA., has an International Street Fair on Labor Day Weekend each year. All the various ethnic groups have food and drink for sale and there are a couple of stages for different entertainments. It was always a lot of fun. You could start out with Danish apple fritters (I can't spell aebleskivers) and Norwegian rosettes. Follow up with Vietnamese banh mi, then a good bratwurst with sauerkraut. For dessert, Italian gelato or shaved ice. Of course plenty of beer, some wine, and finally (for the drive home) some Espresso.

That's pretty cool! We have a family Bible (in English) that came over in the very early 1700s. It is an interesting exercise in eyestrain attempt to decipher the old family notes inscribed in it.

Reply to revobob in 23: It reminds me of a passage in the Gerald Brenen's book The Spanish Labyrinth. I think he captures far more clearly than they themselves would be able to the essence of the radical left. Although the context is Spain in the 1920s, with very few changes it could be applied to the black shirts of Portland.

And yet our own Perpetual Dependency Class actually have a "life of leisure" without having to worry about putting food on the table; and yet, they're perpetually angry, engage in every form of caustic social behavior, and produce little-to-nothing in the way of great ponderings upon Vice, Virtue, Fate, and God. Funny, that.

Reply to lucius septimius in 25: That seems a very apt description. Of course Spanish peasants did not have the opportunities afforded to modern youth to be mis-educated. In both cases, the underlying assumption that their lives would be better if only... completely ignores the requirement that SOMEONE has to labor to produce the food, clothing shelter, etc. that they expect. They unconsciously condone the servitude they abhor to be inflicted on undefined others.

Reply to revobob in 27: On the previous page he describes the paradox of the sort of anarchism/socialism of the Antifa sorts: "[Anarchism] aims at reaching by violence a state from which even the mildest form of compulsion is to be excluded. The wicked who have so long oppressed the earth are to be eliminated and then the age of peace and mutual tolerance will automatically begin ... 'to introduce the Golden Age you have only to kill the wicked and prevent the good from living as they wish to.'"

Reply to Occasional Reader in 26: Ahhh, that's because they still live under an "oppressive" system. And the things they want are not the things the Anarchists approve of. In Spain, at least, they had a solution for those who failed to properly appreciate what the Anarchists were offering them. 'A bullet in the head for this companero -- without hate, of course, without hate. He can smoke a last cigarette [or vape, nowadays] before dying. After all, companero, death is nothing."

Reply to lucius septimius in 16: It's gone downhill in the last decade or two. Shabby motels, shabby amusement park, shabby miniature golf, cheap gift shops, junky "antique" shops, mediocre food, and lots of fat people in shorts and tank tops. The most notable aspect was that every shop sold 37 flavors of beef jerky, including pineapple. It's the white trash capital of North Georgia.

Thought of an analogy for the mess I'm cleaning up at work. They have dozens of Lego sets. All the packages have been opened, dumped into a large pile, thoroughly mixed, the randomly scooped into various bins, and a bunch left on the floor. My job is to reassemble the sets. The the method currently in use is to sort through the various piles until the right part is found. I'm trying to organize the pieces making reassembly much easier.

One person got thrown out early because she didn't want to work that hard. The director said he thought going into it that it would show a comfortable life, but he didn't know how hard it would be.

And should, G-d forbid, someone dies because an ambulance can't get through to a hospital, they get charged with manslaighter. I would think we'd be able to find the ringleaders of these groups, though, and make them pay everyone stuck in traffic a full day's pay. And they get no government benefits (including student loans) until they pay up.
