I saw Alice's post late yesterday about WI DNR requires masks for teleconferences. Yet again, I'm seeing decisions being made not because they are based in science, but for the optics. As the article said, they were told to do this because they have to set a good example

This tells me an awful lot about how these folks think. It's no surprise, as we have known for ages that politicians are more focused on the surface-level appeal versus policy statements. The COVID theatre is all about surface-level imaging and not about what actually protects people, but now the insanity is pushed to 11 in that workers *must* comply on these issues and become good little soldiers for the cause, rather than let them decide what is a reasonable risk for themselves.

What is starting to really irk me, though, is how a local university is now asking students and staff to "take the pledge" to show they are going to be personally responsible and "do their part" to protect those around them. They even have a web form where you can "sign" and feel smug and superior. This reminds me too much of a loyalty oath and has raised the hackles on my back.

Sounds like they're recruiting good little spies and informers.

I would say they are creating and crafting Karens for the squad, only because right now everything is voluntary--until it isn't.

Kamala Harris is the kindest, warmest, bravest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.

I think I see the flaw in your thinking.  Ask your son for his opinion, he's probably more well informed than the media.  At least more honest if nothing else.

Well, at the moment I am in New York he’s in DC with his mom, but I’ll do so when I get back. As it is, he sent me a video greeting this morning, in which, at the end, he giggled and said “please leave your comments in the comments section“.

I'm seeing weighty---or would-be weighty---"think pieces" all over the place, discussing what the Harris VP choice "means," whether it means that "progressive Democrats will not turn out to vote," yadda yadda yadda.

Sorry---talking about the Democrats' Hate-Trump Ticket in any terms other than Hate-Trump is a waste of time.

Biden + Harris is the Fusion Hate-Trump Ticket; Joe represents the Swamp Corruption, Incompetence, and Pander to Progressives wings of the party, while Kamala represents the Race-Baiting, Identity Politics, and Diversity Slots wing and the Use the Club of Partisanship Under Cover of Law wing.

That these wings of the party are often at loggerheads means nothing. That these various positions, despite being contradictory, are also held by/embodied by a single person means nothing. That Biden and Harris, originally at daggers drawn when the campaign started, are now a "team" means everything; these two human cutouts have been combined to signal to the Left of whatever stripe that All Must Combine to crush Trump.

Morning Sedition actually had someone on today talking about how "the mainstream media have not always been fair to women in politics."

Somehow, I don't think they had Sarah Palin in mind.

What is an NMD? I don't recognize that acronym when it comes to medicine.

Looks like it stands for Naturopathic MD. Well, just in terms of her numbers, I didn't see any red flags there. But I think we all gathered this already. With fewer people traveling, flying, or even getting out in public, there were fewer opportunities for accidents and disease.

Of course, I can totally imagine folks who are beholden to the precautionary principle would say, clearly we need to continuing sheltering in place forever.

Kamala's long insisted you
Should see things the broad-way
The masculine view just won't do
You must see things the broad-way
So if you should sleep your way
Right into the Senate
It's just a form of "equal pay"---
It's "social justice," ennit?
Go down, baby,
Go down---your nomination's on the way!
Who knows, baby?
What candidacy you'll get someday?

Are you Tim Graham?/

Left-wing media owes Sarah Palin host of apologies

We can engage in a two-minute laugh when we think about John McCain’s unveiling of Sarah Palin as his vice presidential nominee just before the 2008 Republican convention. The feminists of the press betrayed pretty much the whole list.

After Palin wowed the Republican convention crowd with her speech, CNN analyst Jeffrey Toobin lashed out: “I thought, very smug, very sarcastic, very cutting. And you know what? The Republicans had been trying to portray her as a victim for the last couple days. Well, she’s not going to be a victim anymore. She’s going to be a target.”

New York Times columnist David Carr echoed Eleanor Clift in underlining the media’s sexist contempt: “Before Gov. Sarah Palin came flying in from the wilds of Alaska for the Republican convention in St. Paul, there was a lot of sniggering in media rooms and satellite trucks about her beauty queen looks and rustic hobbies, and the suggestion that she was better suited to be a calendar model for a local auto body shop than a holder of the second-highest office in the land.”

Everyone who watches the left-wing media can see that you can be intensely sexist toward Sarah Palin and no one will ever apologize. To them, conservative Blacks aren’t really Black; conservative Latinos aren’t really Latino; and conservative women aren’t really women.

Biden approves of something Trump did:

Biden praises Israel-UAE peace deal announced by Trump

I think this will make the Dems finally agree he's senile/

Of course, he credits the Obama  administration

The statement said that the “diplomatic breakthrough” was at “the request of President Trump,” and that Israel will “suspend declaring sovereignty over areas outlined in the President’s Vision for Peace and focus its efforts now on expanding ties with other countries in the Arab and Muslim world.”

Biden, though, said that “the coming together of Israel and Arab states builds on the efforts of multiple administrations to foster a broader Arab-Israeli opening, including the efforts of the Obama-Biden administration to build on the Arab Peace Initiative.”

Joe, this has nothing to do with the Arab "peace" initiative, which required Israel to accept all the "refugees" and descendants before they'd recognize Israel.

One should note that the picture Darius Sessoms that has been disseminated---prior to his arrest for this atrocity---is one of him wearing an orange jumpsuit.

In other words, Sessoms was already a criminal before this brutal murder. Which makes one wonder; what was he previously arrested for? Why did he have access to a gun? Should he have still been incarcerated instead of walking around loose?

He probably  can get a gun easier than I can, illegally, of course. And gun control laws don't stop the gangs selling weapons.

Of course.  But that brings us back to why he was wearing that orange jumpsuit in the pre-arrest picture, and whether he should have been at large at all.

someone at Insta pundit said they had run it down, the guy had prior felony convictions for drug and weapon offenses, for which he did something like three months.

As many have pointed out: for all that the “progressive“ like to shout about the supposed over incarceration problem in America, if you look at the record of practically anybody who has committed a murder, you see that there was certainly an under incarceration problem.
