Breitbart says no 9/11 Light Tribute this year

Don't know if anybody saw this already but I missed it yesterday.  I'm speechless.  Every time I think they've finally hit bottom, they manage to go even deeper.  I can say this is the single most profound event that has occurred in "my" lifetime. It was the day I finally realized I was mortal.  (I finally grew up)  I still end tear up if I read Tilly's Story on the anniversary.  And they are now choosing to just ignore it.  My heart breaks all over again.

I'm very irritated with one of my neighbors this morning. I have one car but I'm entitled to two parking spaces, presumably the two directly in front of my house that I've used for seven years. (It's a townhome community with an open parking lot and both reserved and guest parking clearly marked.) A few weeks ago someone decided my second space was now his. I finally got fed up and typed up a polite note and left it on his windshield. He insists that residents can park in any reserved space. No one does that. Everyone parks in the same space all the time. He also noted that I don't have a parking sticker on my car. I don't because I think they're stupid in such a small community, but I suppose now I'll have to get one.

This morning he's parked one space over (still not his parking space, but not mine). I could take it to the HOA, but I really don't want to do that because HOAs are asshoe. He's pals with all of them so they'll take his side even if I'm right. I barely know anyone and it took my forever to figure out whose car this was. Now I realize his wife has been ill and I don't want to get into a stupid disagreement under the circumstances. I'm willing to let it go if he stays out of my space.

I really enjoy living here, but I've started thinking about whether I'd prefer a little place with a yard out in the country in a few years.

well, see, putting together that light display might risk spreading coronavirus. On the other hand, BLM and antifa riots are just dandy.

Say his name, MSM: Cannon Hinnant.

Spray paint rude and offensive remarks all over the car and clip off the valve stems on their tires.  Go full Antifa -- if you do that, no one will touch you.

I thought about something like that, but I have to live here.

The other thing this guy does is walk around the parking lot two or three times a day, in a mask. Which is fine, but he has a habit of weaving in between cars to get in extra steps, and it puts him way too close to my front window. There's something deeply creepy about it.

Reply to doppelganglander in 9: You  want creepy?  When first married, lived up stairs in an 8 unit apartment complex.  The guy next door was an "artist".  I had to walk past his apartment to get to ours.  He would leave his paintings in the middle of the room facing the big bay window.  I got into the habit of when his curtains were open, to look at his work!  One day his was working as I passed by and looked in, the curtains were wide open.  There he stood, buck naked, facing that big bay window with his paint brush in his hand.  I couldn't make eye contact with him for the rest of the year we lived there.  Guess there was a lesson about looking in other peoples' windows there.  So who was the bigger creep, him or me?

Him. He put paintings on display, encouraging people to look. Then he put himself on display.

The good news is, the Tribute will happen.

NEW YORK — The longstanding "Tribute in Light" tradition is back on with a new partner, according to that group's CEO.

Frank Siller, CEO of Tunnel to Towers, told PIX11 News Friday that his group will put on a "Towers of Light" memorial on Sept. 11, 2020. The foundation's tribute also will include a live reading of victims' names, which was canceled at the official ceremony.

No other details were available, other than that the tribute is a "done deal," a foundation spokesperson said. They did not elaborate.

The Tunnel to Towers website said Friday, “The foundation is doing everything in its power to make sure that the towers of light will once again be illuminated.”

It started raining just after I arrived at the Country Estate about an hour ago. It seems to have stopped so I lit the grill but I'm afraid it will start up again.

Reply to midwestgak in 14: So good to hear; not that I'm planning on attending, but it's the symbolism of it.  Shows a serious lack of respect to those who died and their friends and families.

I hope that's a second (vacation) home and not a second part-time job.  We spent the day packing for another week camping in the National Forest here.  I love it up there.  I could live up there if it weren't for the problem of the ice melting every three days.
