Morning, campers. Got my new phone, and while everything has gone fine moving apps and info over, I'm mildly annoyed that my phone won't pair with my car. A 30-second search this morning hasn't brought up any clear answers, other than, "they might not be compatible."

Religious differences, perhaps?

Democrats + "Green New Deal": Perpetual emotion machine demands perpetual motion machine.

Good morning! I had a phone interview this morning that didn't go particularly well. I think they're looking for someone with more experience with the common e-learning authoring tools - I know how to use them, but I don't have years of experience. On the plus side, the former CEO of my last company recommended me to a colleague, and I'm waiting for a response to my response. I wrote the CEO a very nice thank you note.

You know those magnet strips typed with words, phrases and half-sentences, that people use to make "poetry" on their refrigerators?

There ought to be a set of them typed with words like "impeachment," "emoluments," "transcript," "undue influence," "collusion," and the like.

One gets the impression that the Democrats' leadership have been messing around with such a set of magnets for three years plus.

I still can't believe the Democrats are making such a big deal about Trump's skin cream.

Here's hoping they realize your overall skill set trumps a slight weakness in one area.

Again---the whole "impeachment" stink is merely the Democrats' version of the "Who killed Taylor Henry?" controversy in Hammett's "The Glass Key," with Trump in the Paul Madvig role.

Perhaps they think of Trump as the proverbial bull in the china shop; and that they're the matador challenging him with a loud "Olay!".

The WSJ has taken to calling it what it is:  election nullification.  It seems like the Democrats have learned nothing since John C. Calhoun.

Brian Donlevy as Trump?  I can sort of see it ...

Thanks, buzz. I completely understand why they'd want someone with stronger experience in those areas. The entire training department consists of the manager and this one person. She needs someone who can complete a project quickly without much supervision.

I am not giving up or panicking. The support I get from you and everyone here means a lot to me.

That, in particular, sounds promising.

There are actually two film versions of "The Glass Key"; the better-known with Donlevy as Madvig, the earlier, lesser-known version with Edward Arnold in the role.

In any event, the book deals with a rough city election between Madvig, a crooked political boss, and his even-more-crooked opposition, backed semi-clandestinely by gangster Shad O'Rory.  Madvig agrees to back former opponent Senator Henry, because he's hot for the Senator's daughter. When the Senator's son is found dead, suspicion is roiled---primarily by the opposition newspaper (fake news!)---that Madvig is the one who killed him.  It later turns out that the Senator has killed his own son, and that the daughter has been spreading suspicion that Madvig is the murderer because of her hatred for him.

"The Glass Key" doesn't exactly mirror our national situation today, but there are interesting parallels. The story is told from the point of view of Madvig's friend Ned Beaumont, who does a great deal to protect Madvig from his own errors and follies.  At one point, when asked "why the newspapers would say Madvig killed Taylor Henry, if it was not true," Ned tells the other party that "the other side thinks it's good politics to make people believe that."  At another point, Beaumont says to Janet Henry, "You don't hate him because you think he killed your brother.  You think he killed your brother because you hate him."

As I said...some interesting parallels.

I was surprised and flattered, believe me. He had a soft spot for me because of my game show career, and he obviously respects my professional work as well. At one point, the marketing folks created an "Interesting People of Company X" video that ran on a loop in the lobby of the HQ and several branches. I was featured along with someone who was a homebrewer and a bird watcher who had traveled all over the world.

That would be an interesting question. "Is your car Catholic? Is your phone Presbyterian?"
