During the SCOTUS confirmation this morning the Democratic senators are attempting to get ACB to recuse herself from any decision regarding the upcoming election, before her confirmation and before the election. The gall!

Perhaps it’s a symptom of what I’ll call the 2020 syndrome, everything is foggy and seemingly part of a bad dream. It’s really hard for me to think straight these days, it’s all been a blur.

Another day in Seattle

Neighbors frustrated with noise, disruptions from homeless encampments

He’s the one with generator making all the noise. He keeps it in a hole in the ground next to his tent. When we asked him about neighbors who complain about all the smoke coming from the generator or the loud noise, he says, "Tell 'em to call the cops.”

“The City Council has been a total joke," Peterson said. "We reach out to the City Council. We get a notice about everything else. So they just totally ignore us."

and Sacramento. There are homeless camps under nearly every freeway overpass in downtown Sacramento. The city council has done nothing but encourage them.

I don't know what to think. It is making it extremely hard to get any work done, that's for sure.

In that case I’d try more coffee. It always helps get things percolating for me! lol

Hang in there, hopefully you’ll snap out of it.

Ben Sasse (R, Nebraska) handled an NPR interviewer beautifully on that topic today.  She asked him whether Barrett should pre-emptively recuse herself from any cases relating to the election, and he asked her, with the most perfectly bland innocence, why such recusal might be necessary.  The interviewer was completely nonplussed.

Start spreadin' the news
I'm leavin' today
I'm gonna be a part of it
The Supreme Court
Once hearings are through
And the vote goes my way
I'll hear oral arguments
On the Supreme Court
I'll stroll the marble halls in my judicial robes
Once we're finished with
All the Senators' probes
No, I won't recuse
I'll go in every day
As the newest justice on
The Supreme Court
I'll continue ruling as I've done
According to the Constitution
It's what you on
The Supreme Court!

My favorite bit today?  ACB wore a mask.  That means she's a Handmaiden or something.  Masks are now oppressive.

I think Sasse drove home the main point concerning the Democrats attempts at getting ACB to recuse herself ... we can’t litigate the future. There is no telling what case might come before the court concerning the 2020 election, how can the Democrats even call for her recusal over an unknown issue? However, one thing I think we might all agree on the way things appear to be shaping up, and that is that there will be litigation before the Supreme Court concerning the outcome of this election. No doubt about that in my mind.

Thanks for the link buzz (I rarely listen to NPR).

It's pretty trivial... but I recall that in the 2012 campaign season, The Smartest President In the History of Everything was asked how his daughters were reacting to his having to hit the campaign trail; he replied that they were "nonplussed"... but it was clear from the context, he believed (as so many do) that the word means the exact opposite of its actual meaning.

Do you agree to recuse yourself from all decisions until President Harris can pack the court?

Were the Democrats to win, and try to expand the Court by adding an openly-gay Justice, would that be fudge-packing?

The iPhone 12 won't have the necessary charging cables inside--and they are selling this as a feature.

Reply to vxbush in 20: Oh, forgive me. The cord will be included, but the transformer that plugs in--the "base" for the cable--won't be included.

I just picked up a spare to create a new charging location for my iPhone, I spent $1.99 at the 99 Cent store, they’re cheap. But it’s really cheap of Apple not to include one!

Oh but you just aren't taking the environment into consideration, you selfish person! Don't you care about the environment??? We're going to save the environment so much by making our boxes smaller!!!

Yeah, I can understand, but the product itself is good. It just isn't worth upgrading every year, like they assume you will.

Who knows what ideas went into Apples decision making process but PROFIT!!! was undoubtedly one of them! That and smaller boxes, less footprint on the environment don’t you know :.)

Profit, and many people already have USB chargers (the power supply box) in other devices.

For example, I have both a desk lamp and a clock radio that have USB charger jacks. I use the radio to charge my phone at night and the lamp for anything I need to charge during the day.

Wouldn't have even bothered with Prime Day except something I bought came with a $10 credit for Prime day.

So I got stuff I would have gotten anyway

Don't know, but I deleted a fake offer for a large horse figure. The link was to some Greek site.

I remember when TV shows referred to some actual culture.

A Get Smart episode referenced Dorian Gray, and even the Beverly Hillbillies referred to the War of the Roses.

Today? Some random popular culture.

From what little I've seen of the ACB confirmation hearings, all I can say is that the Democrats are completely insane.
