The Spectator ran a short article pointing out that Trump got 30% of the Muslim vote. This despite the non-stop portrayal of him as an "islamophobe" who was going to put them in concentration camps along with teh gheys, etc. The reason, they suggested, was that Trump wasn't interested in endless wars in the Middle East. That and the peace deals.

I could use some prayers if you're the praying sort. My daughter-in-law was admitted to the hospital last night with a high fever. She's awaiting the results of a Covid test, but it's also possible she has another type of infection. They're doing a culture to figure out the best type of antibiotic for her. Meanwhile, she has the baby with her and my younger daughter is taking care of the three-year-old. I'm not sure they'll let my son visit her.

Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 2: The article pointed to the fact that many American Muslims were among the "silent Trump majority." Because of the way he's portrayed, they couldn't voice their support for him. In fact, they faced severe backlash within the Muslim community if they did so. If you're a Sunni, I can't imagine that Obama/Biden/Harris's love affair with Iran would be comforting.

May the doctors find a clear answer and prescribe exactly what she needs, and may they all stay safe.

Reply to turn in 11: Thanks, turn. If it turns out to be Covid, you can blame the NHS for putting her on a maternity ward with someone who tested positive. I guess social distancing doesn't apply to hospitals.

When I stayed two nights in the hospital the week before last. I was very happy to find myself in a large, private room. The second day, the nurse said, "good news! We can upgrade you to a better room!" She took me down the hall and showed it to me, and it was indeed a little bigger, and had an en suite bathroom (my current one had an assigned bathroom but that was across the other side of the corridor, no big deal to get there; but it also... was shared. I declined, really thinking as much about privacy and sleeping well as COVID. But I was rather surprised it even occurred to them in theses covid-y times that a shared room would be better than a private one.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 15: I would have made the same choice. An en suite bathroom is nice, but I prefer my privacy.

I actually slept surprisingly well, for being in a hospital (not to mention, with my leg in an immobilizer). I had complete privacy except for the periodic proddings and pokings by nurses (pulse and BP, etc.), I had earplugs and an eyeshade which were quite effective, and the AC was just noisy enough to provide white noise, while not being annoying.

Reply to @PBJ3 in 18: Thank you, dear. Update: they brought her fever down but they plan to keep her a bit longer. Still no test results. The baby is fine but they don't have staff to help her, however they let my son visit her so he can help.

I'm guessing it's forged. At least, I wouldn't be interested unless the Treasury Department confirms it's legit.
