For once the picture resembles my breakfast, albeit without the fresh fruit and the gratuitous mint leaves.  I mean, really, who puts those in their Muesli?

I see my county is getting ahead of the curve and going to clamp down on charter schools, expecting a Biden administration that will treat school choice as an evil to be crushed.  All hail the almighty unions!!!

Look, we can't allow schools that actually function, and teach kids independent, rational thought, now, can we.

The thing that gets me that nearly all the Biden supporters I know are rich enough to send their kids to private schools.  They won't be affected by Biden's policies.

I think that's true in many places, and I might be susceptible to think that this is their way of proving their own worth, that their kids don't have to attend the crappy public schools. Because people never do stuff to their kids to make themselves look good, right?

Morning, campers.

I think it's yet another example of them proclaiming their virtue (EDUCATION FOR ALL!  NOT JUST FOR SOME!) in a way that involves absolutely no sacrifice on their part.  The reality of public education doesn't have any impact on their lives.

Are they actually closing your kids' school, or just threatening?

Out of the blue the "office of accountability" sent out a survey to parents at the school.  The charter is up for review next year.  The principal wasn't informed -- he only found out after the survey had been received and parents asked about it.

I suspect what will happen under Comrade Biden-Harris's administration is a massive wave of impossible regulatory requirements that charter schools will have to meet that won't be imposed on union schools.  It's how the state of Georgia shut down the best teacher-education programs in the state 25 years ago.

The Plush Progs who run Sidwell Friends School here in DC should have really shown their commitment to Progressive ideals on this matter back in 2009 by refusing admission to Sasha and Malia.

PSA on the morning radio...

This phrase jumped out.....

Covid loves for not to mask up.

IT IS FUCKING RNA VIRUS! It has no emotions.

But you fear mongering bastards know how to manipulate people.

Sounds like the parent survey is just CYA and will be ignored. Bypassing the principal is another bad sign. The parents, faculty, and staff need to organize to push back hard for the next year, including connecting with other charter schools. Representatives need to be at every BOE meeting to talk about it. And find out which local TV reporters cover education in your county and get them to cover it. Together, families can stop the power grab.

Reminds me of a PSA noted by "Theodore Dalrymple" from some years back, that the UK government was circulating, that said (IIRC):

"Don't discriminate; HIV doesn't.

Among other questions raised by this bizarre message: And so I want to model my behavior on that (according to the message) of a deadly retrovirus... why, exactly?

As I recall, we were expected to pretend that everyone was equally vulnerable to HIV, because pointing out it mainly affected gay men and IV drug users was discriminatory. The left is all about decoupling behavior from consequences.

Good afternoon (evening?). Been having bad issues with the internet the past coupe of days. Service provider finally got them sorted out today. Just in time for a "Parent/Teacher" interview over Zoom. Good news, the Squire is showing great progress with communications, self regulating, and other social things. Still very enthusiastic but they have managed to redirect suitably. His teacher and Educational Assistant think he's a joy to work with. Aside from his silly escapades occasionally.  Kid is a natural class clown.

There she was, just a-walkin' down the street
Singin' co-morbiditity-dum-diddy-do
Wearin' a mask, but her eyes still looked so sweet
Singin' co-morbiditity-dum-diddy-do
She looked good (She looked good!)
She looked hip (She looked hip!)
And I yearned to see her lips...

The only person I know who has died of COVID was my cousin's son.  He was 42 and had been an alcoholic since high school -- I suspect his liver was completely shot.

It's always good to settle on a career early in life.
