Man. To say this is a quiet Sunday here at rudebridge is putting it mildly. So I will re-post my discussion question from last night.

Discussion question for you night owls before I go: who do you think wins the prize to be the most bloodthirsty native people in the Americas?

Based on what I’ve read, a solid case could be made for the Aztecs, and the Comanche; with the Hurons being no slackers, either.”

Trick question! In fact, all Native Americans were warm, wise, wonderful, gentle people who lived in perfect harmony with nature. Only white people are brutal and evil. Report to reeducation camp immediately, comrade.

Oh, and the fact that you traveled for Thanksgiving also means that you are literally worse than Hitler.

So forget the reeducation camp; report immediately to the “special treatment“ camp, comrade.

I travelled as well -- had to fly through Detroit and half expected to be forced into quarantine after flying from a Plague State (i.e., Red State).

Not to mention the 600 pounds of C02 I released into the atmosphere driving my gas guzzling truck there and back.

Incas had human  sacrifice as well.

As for the Aztecs,  there is this little bit:

here is a myth about the question of how 800 Spaniards defeated a whole empire. Well, it wasn’t only 800 Spaniards. They were supported by thousands of indigenous people who wanted to get rid of Aztec rule. When the conquest happened, when Tenochtitlan was about to fall, surrounded by land and sea, those groups of local enemies of the Aztecs played a fundamental role in the fall of the Aztec empire. Also, the Aztecs used a tactic that worked against them. Unlike the Spaniards who came to kill, the Aztecs preferred to take prisoners of war for human sacrifices. The Aztecs captured Cortes, and they didn’t kill him because they were going to sacrifice him. But his comrades saved him. Moctezuma was taken prisoner and was killed by the Spaniards.

Obviously you were supposed to drive an electric truck, and probably have more CO2 emissions to charge it

An efficient electric car gets about 33 KWh/100 miles, so your trip would have used 198 KWh. The best charger is 77% efficient. ,for 257 KWh from the grid, and the US average is 0.99 lb CO2 per KWh, for 255 lbs. A lot less - but that is with a car.

The Rivian pickup is supposed to get 45 KWh/100 miles, so let's just multiply 45/33 *255 = 347 lbs. That is, if the estimate for the Rivian range is correct.

Now, the worst chargers are only 47% efficient, not 77%,  so that would increase this significantly, to 594, or very close to 600.

These are quick, back of the envelope calculations

Which is expected from the laws of thermodynamics.

It takes so much energy to move a object a given distance, there are differences in the details, but not in the balance of the math.

Whole Foods CEO slams socialism as 'trickle-up poverty': 'It doesn't work’

"It needs to evolve,” Mackey said of the business culture. “Otherwise, the socialists are going to take over — that's how I see it, and that's the path of poverty. They talk about trickle-down wealth, but socialism is trickle-up poverty. It just impoverishes everything. That's my fear, that the Marxists and socialists, the academic community is generally hostile to business. It always has been. This is not new."

Mackey argued that the purpose of business is to create value for others and blamed colleges and progressives for spreading the negative view of capitalism.

I was surprised electric wasn't less efficient, given all the steps (generator, transmission, charger,  battery). Maybe nuclear electricity is making electric cars look better (no CO2 emissions)

Back now. A configuration error at their end, based on the error message
