Rats. My chance to control the universe by controlling the petty breakfast picture has been snatched away. I shall now petition that all blogs everywhere make me their superuser.

Good morning. I couldn't fall asleep until 4 a.m., and then I dreamed I had to go back to work at the office. Up at 7. I may be pretty cranky this afternoon unless I get a juice box and a nap.

Oh,  no, not unless you need another admin user. I'm trying to channel my inner BLM protester, demanding irrational rights.

Today's insanity bill will hopefully be vetoed by Trump, but you know Biden would just sign the dotted line.

The Unknown Citizen
---WH Auden

(To JS/07 M 378
This Marble Monument
Is Erected by the State)

He was found by the Bureau of Statistics to be
One against whom there was no official complaint,
And all the reports of his conduct agree
That, in the modern sense of the old-fashioned word, he was a saint,
For in everything he did he served the Greater Community.
Except for the war till the day he retired
He worked in a factory and never got fired,
But satisfied his employers, Fudge Motors Inc.
Yet he wasn’t a scab or odd in his views,
For his union reports that he paid his dues,
(Our report of his union shows it was sound)
And our Social Psychology workers found
That he was popular with his mates and liked a drink.
The Press are convinced that he bought a paper every day,
And that his reactions to advertisements were normal in every way.
Policies taken out in his name prove that he was fully insured,
And his Health-card shows that he was once in hospital but left it cured.
Both Producers Research and High–Grade Living declare
He was fully sensible to the advantages of the Installment Plan
And had everything necessary to the Modern Man,
A gramophone, a radio, a car and a frigidaire.
Our researchers into Public Opinion are content
That he held the proper opinions for the time of the year;
When there was peace he was for peace; when there was war he went.
He was married and added five children to the population,
which our Eugenist says was the right number for a parent of his generation,
And our teachers report he never interfered with their education.
Was he free? Was he happy? The question is absurd:
Had anything been wrong, we should certainly have heard.

$900 B for Covid, don't believe a word of it.

What it really is....

Congress unveils $2.3 trillion government spending and virus relief package

Pork, pork and more pork.

Omnibus spending bill.

Which means above and beyond the "normal" budget or continuing resolutions.

And the $900 B isn't Covid relief... it has pork pork pork.

Stimulus deal includes raft of provisions to fight climate change

In one of the biggest victories for U.S. climate action in a decade, Congress has moved to phase out a class of potent planet-warming chemicals and provide billions of dollars for renewable energy and efforts to suck carbon from the atmosphere as part of the $900 billion coronavirus relief package.

Everything is a scam.

The question is, when will Congress adjourn?

If it adjourns during the 10-day period that the president has for signing the bill, Trump's simply failing to sign the bill will cause it to be pocket-vetoed.

Thus, if Congress adjourns over Christmas/New Year's, and Trump simply does not sign it, it's dead.

Saw this meme floating around and just had to comment on the ignorance.

Why don't billionaires invest their billions in their companies.

Um, those billions are the company......

No wonder we can't have rational discussions.

See, also, AOC, secure in her belief that having helped keep Amazon HQ out of New York, that meant the tax breaks NY had been offering could now be "spent" on social justice goodies.

Trivia: “Chess” is slang in Lima, Peru for saying (more or less) “motherf**ker”.

I'll probably withhold that information from the boys for the time being.

Got up this morning and made cookies, then with the assistance of youngest boy cleaned out the pantry and repaired some very old water damage, then made a pumpkin pie, read a couple of chapters of very dull diplomatic history, did laundry, and am now starting to roast a duck.  I think I deserve a martini.

One more day of work than I am almost off for an entire week. Think the store manager likes what I have been doing on the front door. Province goes into lockdown on Boxing day, and everything unimportant (range for example *sob*), is shutting down. School for the Squire starts up on the 11th. His mother will be looking after him for an extra week thank god.

The idiocy out there is starting to anger me and cause me no minor grief. Been sleeping a lot more than I usually do.
