Morning, campers. Is Trump the first president to have been sent to the Senate for an impeachment vote twice?

And in each case, it brings a new meaning to “Trumped-up charges”. Heh. The puns do write themselves, don't they? I'm just sitting back in amazement at this move. This doesn't tell me they are confident in their positions at all, but that they are scared silly. It's clearly a move to block Trump from running again because nothing else has worked to get him out of office.

I'm certainly finding a lot of very selective memories at work among people known to me.
In a group chat with college buddies, they were asking "how are things in DC". I replied - factually! - that all had been quiet in my neighborhood; that the problems last Wednesday were confined to Capitol Hill; and that the riots from last spring were a lot bigger and scarier. "Good thing they didn't threaten the Republic, like last week" said D. I replied: "Well, except for the part where they tried to force their way into the White House."

Listening to the gloat-fest about the "impeachment vote" on Morning Sedition, and the mention in passing that there will be no Senate vote "until the Senate reconvenes" after Trump has left office, I was struck by the following: 1) The "impeachment vote" is utterly worthless. If the Senate does not vote on it until after Trump has left office, then any Senate vote is moot, null, and void---first, because "impeachment" means "removal from office," and if Trump is no longer in office there is nothing to "vote" on; second, because any initiative pending in either House or Senate dies with the adjournment of those houses and the installation/convening of a new Congress post-election. Accordingly, the vote in the House will be utterly dead---the impeachment initiative null and void---with the Congressional adjournment and re-convening. It is mere virtue-signalling. 2) Just as the pretexts on which the Left has fomented other riots and unrest---Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, George Floyd, the false claims of massive police prejudice against blacks, etc.---have been predicated on people and incidents whose backgrounds have been murky at best, this bogus impeachment initiative is of a piece with them. Any attempt to pursue the House's moot charges, any attempt to vote on these dead letters in the Senate, will simply create social unrest: "They're not valid!" "Yes they are!" "No, they're not!" 3) The charges this time around contain mention of Trump "encouraging sedition" on the grounds that he contested the bogus election results; while certainly this is aimed at Trump, should he choose to run again or should he choose to participate in politics in any way, it is even more aimed at preventing anyone from ever questioning the Left's in-plain-sight election fraud ever again.

US Olympic gold medalist swimmer Klete Keller is charged with participating in Capitol riots after he was spotted among angry mob of Trump supporters wearing his Team USA jacket
How many members of Antifa who instigated the raid on the Capitol will be identified by law enforcement? My guess is zero, they will deliberately seek out only Trump supporters. Even if they happen to find an Antifa member it will go unreported by the MSM.

Court ruling blocks Seattle's efforts to create supervised heroin injection sites SEATTLE - Seattle’s efforts to create a supervised consumption site for heroin users to inject while being watched by a nurse received a setback Tuesday. In a 2-1 vote, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals ruled a consumption site in Philadelphia could not open because it would violate federal drug laws. The supporters of opening a site in Seattle are hopeful a Biden administration with a Democratically-controlled Congress will make it easier to open one legally.

I can find you articles almost every year for the last 20 years about how gorebul warming was going to leave the Cascade Mountains bare of snow in the next few years. Snoqualmie Pass has greatest snowfall year in 10 years so far this winterGoes into my bulging failed climate fear mongering predictions file, right next to the empty file of predictions which came true.

Personally, I would be awfully reluctant to go up against a grizzly bear with anything less powerful than a 44 magnum, minimum. Better still, .454 Casull; even better, .500 S&W.

Some people were wearing gas masks and others had helmet/face mask combos that did an effective job of hiding their features. There's no way of knowing how many of those folks were Antifa, though.

Meanwhile, my daughter reports from the Javits Center that vaccinations are proceeding relatively smoothly. She sits with the nurse, checks the patient's paperwork, and after the shot she sends them to the kiosk where they can schedule their second shot. The nurse has 6 shots ready to go, and when they run out, she goes for more while another nurse steps in with 6 more. It's surprisingly efficient. Daughter is great with people and she loves talking to old time New Yorkers with Bowery Boys accents. We are very proud if her. Her dad told her she's doing God's work. She said that's not true, because God has a plan.

Who are those folks? I missed that news, but we know they scoop everything up from the Internet via the NSA programs, and chances are very good a request was made by FBI to NSA to get that data and look for such chatter.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 25: In the Before Times, my BF and I spent a weekend at a lovely B&B in Asheville. The day we checked out, there was a bear at the end of the block, just chilling. The owner said that happens pretty often. The city is right in the mountains and they come looking for food. It's not unusual to see bears in the suburbs north of Atlanta, either. Their habitat is being displaced by new construction.

Reply to doppelganglander in 35: Grade was okay.... but there's a mark in the copy book I bet. At work the internal phone directory has interest groups you can add to page. It has your employee info, where you work, your org chart etc. It has a section for accomplishments. I hadn't done much with that I decided to see what was available to my surprise were 3 firearm groups and a Republican group a Constitution group. I added all those to my phone directory page.

However, I am not a fan of interest groups at work. It's like being forced to wear flair, à la Office Space. I don't care about how my coworkers identify - I just want them to be competent and cooperative.

Reply to doppelganglander in 39: Amazon deplatforming Parler pissed me off, especially since there are no grounds in their ToS to do so. I thought about that stuff before I signed on, big tech signing on to the social justice mania. It just never comes up day to day. Everyone on the project is competent and cooperative, and focused on the work. Before shut down we had a weekly happy hour. The team would go to a local watering hole, boss would expense the drinks, and we just had a good time together. Since they offered the opportunity to "advertise" such things... I decided to take advantage of it.
