Morning, campers. I saw this morning that Facebook has completely dropped any pretense of a mask when it comes to Trump, clearly telling their staff never to allow any posting from Donald Trump. Sundance summarized the situation well, I think: "control is a reaction to fear." I don't that I've ever heard that line, but I think that well summarizes the entire response of the Democrats over the last four years and especially now. They must be seriously afraid.

Oikophobia is how Charles Krauthamer put it -- they are terrified of the people.

Related to your posts, VX and Lucius, here is a sobering read from Mark Steyn that really hits home.
“ And so it spreads ...from the faculty lounge to the botanical gardens to the general staff to the surgeon in your operating room and the pilot of your plane. ”

More literally, “fear of home“, or aversion to one’s own culture and society. And apparently the modern political usage of it is attributed to Roger Scruton:
And yes, this is endemic among the so-called progressives.

I do not like the Holocaust references for COVID vaccines, passports, etc.
For one thing, they are backwards - these things allow people to do more, while the yellow stars did the reverse.

trivia, that may or not be true. You may have heard of the expression to "86" some thing, such as a restaurant where they are telling each other, the staff that is, that a certain item is no longer on the menu. Apparently the reference comes from the lower Manhattan Prohibition-era speakeasy "Chumleys". Obstreperous, drunk patrons would be shown out the side door that led onto number 86 of whatever the side street is, I don't recall which one it is. So the bouncers would be ordered to "86" such a customer.
Chumley's was still in operation when I was a young lawyer in New York City in the early-mod 90s, although of course, not as a speakeasy.
