Wow. I want to go THERE for breakfast! Found this last week, but forgot to share: The motherlode of face mask analysis: a meta-analysis showing the fallacy of forcing everyone to wear masks. I think I need to print about 200 copies of this and hand it out.

Reply to vxbush in 1: That's pretty damning. I wonder if the authors will all be sent to mask re-education camp.

So, no online school today as the teachers and school board get things sorted out. Short day tomorrow to get things started and then Wednesday for full online schooling. You would have thought they would have things organized better this time around.

You would have thought they would have things organized better this time around. I cannot speak for Canadian schools, but here in the US what I've noticed is that people who work in education really like to have the standard schedule that doesn't change from year to year. So trying to get these people solidly entrenched in the standard education model are taking four or five times longer trying to retool their processes than I would expect. Part of that makes sense; most teachers weren't taught how to teach online and therefore have no experience on how to make it work. Part of that is because some of these people really aren't smart (as we've seen in the stories shared here over the years).

I note that one of the listed risks of prolonged mask-wearing is "decline in cognitive performance". No wonder Prog politicians are in favor of mask-wearing; it ensures them votes.

Oh--and then there was this disturbing article about the federal government paying for aborted baby parts. And these were children who could have survived outside the womb with neonatal care in a hospital. Such preemies are born and survive all the time, so that makes this article even more disturbing.

A Starbucks barista just called me “hon”. Should I be offended? Should I be microaggressed, should I sue? True, she was actually quite adorable and I quite enjoyed the experience, but shouldn’t I get reparations or something?
OOH, also... I am of part German origin, and that word could have actually been “Hun”!!! Ka-CHING

Reply to JCM in 27: It doesn't matter. There are two possibilities: a) Chauvin will be found not guilty on the evidence, in which case there will be riots, because "Justice for George Floyd." or b) Chauvin will be found guilty on the evidence, in which case there will be riots, because "Justice for George Floyd."

Is the US equivalent of Pravda the NY Times, MSNBC, CNN, or the Washington Post? And what about Izvestia? Discuss. Fox seems to be the equivalent of Radio Free Europe.

Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 30: Last night I was watching Casablanca for the umpteenth time and caught something I'd never noticed before. When Ugarte is arrested and is being walked out the only thing you can hear in the background is the croupier calling in the bets. When Ugarte reaches the door and then tries to bolt the last thing you hear before he goes through the door is the croupier calling "les jeaux sont faits!" I also noticed that when Yvonne is walking with the German soldier into the bar, when she passes Sam the tune suddenly changes to "You must have been a beautiful baby" just before she passes Rick and Capt. Renault's table.

Reply to lucius septimius in 33: There are lots and lots of layers in that film. I wish my Spanish were still good enough to let me decipher the song the Spanish singer (symbolic of the Loyalists) sings; the only line I can get clearly is the one that deals with "la locura de amor," i.e., the madness of love.
