This is the latest news to drop regarding SARS-COV-2; it's starting to show up across multiple blogs. This is a long video, but this was taken at (what I think is) a German coronavirus investigative committee. The speaker, Dr. David Martin, is the CEO of M-CAM International (risk management), and it sounds like they focus on understanding intellectual property. In this video, he walks through what he claims is patent evidence to demonstrate that SARS-COV-2 is not naturally occurring and not that it was a result of a bioweapons leak in a Wuhan lab, but instead that it has been slowly crafted for over 20 years in labs across multiple research groups. He only mentioned US patents, but it might included patents in other countries. A summary of his claims is available at this UK blog.

Reply to vxbush in 3: I don't want to try to summarize the results, because there's just so much involved in this, but I watched the video last name. Certain names keep popping up that have been connected to this virus: Dr. Fauci, Peter Daszak, Moderna, Pfizer. The aforementioned Daszak made a quote which Dr. Martin references: "We need to increase public understanding of the need for medical counter-measures such as a pan-coronavirus vaccine. A key driver is the media, and the economics will follow the hype. We need to use that hype to our advantage, to get to the real issues. Investors will respond if they see profit at the end of the process." This was quote was said back on February 12, 2016.

Oh, one more link--the first half of the summary of this video is at that same UK web site here. I posted the second half first.
And I'll stop hogging the blog. Is this true or accurate? It certainly seems to be. The way Dr. Martin described his company is as follows: Of his own company, Martin said: ‘We have since 1998 been the world’s largest underwriter of intangible assets used in finance in 168 countries. Our underwriting systems include the entire corpus of all patents, patent applications, federal grants, procurement records, e-government records, etc. We have the ability to track not only what is happening, and who is involved in what’s happening, but we monitor a series of thematic interests for a variety of organisations and individuals as well as for our own commercial use. ‘We have reviewed over 4,000 patents issued around SARS-coronavirus and done a very comprehensive review of the financing of all the manipulation of coronavirus which gave rise to SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). That certainly sounds like they've done the deep dive into the patents. Okay, I'm done. Go look at the evidence he presents, if you wish.

Reply to vxbush in 3: Some of that makes sense, as there is a lot of evidence for research on viruses, including the spike protein COVID uses. Given the connections between virus researchers all over the world with Wuhan, all that information made its way to the Wuhan lab, where I think the PLA was developing a bioweapon. Some other parts are incorrect. The spike protein itself is the way the virus enters cells; the toxic effects are due to the virus taking over at least part of the cell's machinery to make more viruses, and killing the cell to let them out. On its own, it isn't a toxin. All vaccines for viral diseases include enough of a virus (typically the ones that bind to cell receptors) to cause an immune reaction. In this case, instead of trying to find out how to deactivate a virus to make it not infective but still trigger an immune response, they have the body create enough of the target for an immune response. mRNA does not last long, as its purpose in cells is as the temporary blueprint copies given to the protein building machinery. If it lasted after those specific proteins were needed, they'd build up and cause other problems. And yes, the mRNA technology was developed before COVID; it would not have been available in time otherwise. It was openly being developed as a defense against SARS, which I am beginning to think was also due to a lab leak. Saying the whole thing was a conspiracy is pushing it.

That's in line with what I'm starting to see in higher ed: they are telling students that you can only trust information from "reputable sources", and then they start listing a small subset of media as reputable. All strongly left-wing, of course.

Not that far; as someone or other pointed out a while back, the so-called "Free Speech Movement" at Berkeley in the '60s was not about "free speech," but about "free LEFTIST speech"---as have been all the subsequent such actions, movements, and demonstrations. "Question Authority" was all about pushing back at people, thoughts, positions, actions, initiatives that the Left opposed; "Don't Question Authority" always remained the rule within Leftist orthodoxy.

But but but that can't be true! I've had proggies earnestly tell me that "Black Lives Matter" is entirely non-political... it is simply anti-racism... and therefore, anyone who questions BLM in any way is obviously a racist.

So al-Guardian is trying to resurrect the Russian Collusion myth with questionable documents. From "The Scroll", an email from Tabletmag.com Link to the article Previously debunked accounts of Russia colluding with former President Donald Trump are revived in a new story that has been hyped as a “bombshell” but provides little evidence to support its explosive claims. On Thursday morning, The Guardian published an article containing what its authors claim is a leaked 2016 internal Kremlin document showing Russian President Vladimir Putin personally authorizing a secret operation to support Donald Trump’s campaign for the presidency. Notes from a Russian national security council meeting allegedly show Putin asserting that a Trump presidency “would help secure Moscow’s strategic objectives, among them ‘social turmoil’ in the U.S.” Additionally, the documents refer to the Kremlin possessing kompromat, an espionage term, popularized by the Steele dossier, that refers to compromising material used for influence and extortion. Despite the echoes of the discredited dossier, major news outlets are amplifying the most explosive claims from The Guardian report. “BREAKING: Bombshell Kremlin leak appears to confirm Putin has Trump ‘kompromat,’” tweeted The Daily Beast to its 1.3 million followers. Raw Story tweeted to its nearly quarter of a million followers, “‘The pee tape is real’: Critics claim Kremlin leak confirms ‘every awful thing said about Trump ends up being absolutely true.’” Notably, The Guardian authors refer to “what are assessed to be leaked Kremlin documents” in the article’s first paragraph—acknowledging that they cannot confirm the authenticity of the documents on which the article is based. Former U.S. cybersecurity chief and staunch Trump critic Chris Krebs tweeted Thursday, “This is far too convenient & reeks of #disinfo operation.” There is also the spotty record of The Guardian story’s lead author, Luke Harding, to consider. In late 2018 Harding published an article in The Guardian alleging a secret meeting between Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange inside the Ecuadorian embassy in London. The lack of evidence for these claims, which were never proved and widely deemed implausible, tarnished Harding’s reputation. Coincidentally, New York magazine published an interview yesterday titled “‘The Steele Dossier Was a Case Study in How Reporters Get Manipulated’” that mentions how “people like Rachel Maddow and the Guardian’s Luke Harding seem to have paid no price for their failings.”
Here's The Guardian’s article: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jul/15/kremlin-papers-appear-to-show-putins-plot-to-put-trump-in-white-house

Reply to Occasional Reader in 24: Reply to Occasional Reader in 25: Tabletmag is one of those few sources that do a good job, no matter their opinions. I have read articles there from writers who did not like Trump, but did respect what has done. They also were on the lab leak theory quite a while ago, with actual facts, like the bats this was supposed to be connected to live 1000 miles away from Wuhan, AND were hibernating during the outbreak.
