So a couple of colleagues got in touch to plan a casual lunch.

"Socially distant, outdoors", says one.

I suggested we have a more "normal"  lunch; we've all been vaccinated, etc.

"I'm only ready for 'normal' when my kids get vaxxed",  she replies.

Her kids are, IIRC, 5 and 7 years old. 

Oh, did I mention she's a big Proggie?  But you knew that. 

What explains this near-perfect correlation between political ideology and WuFlu Terror?

A complete dependence on (mostly federal) government. The word of the CDC is sacrosanct. If they say it's okay, then it's okay. It doesn't matter if the CDC followed the direction of the teachers' unions in saying children must be masked without any science behind it--the CDC is always right.

Or you could just read this Rolling Stone article from a few days ago that presents the spirit of the moral revolution reshaping U.S. society more pointedly than any intellectual analysis: “Meet the Dommes Who Are Demanding Their Submissives Get Vaxxed.”

In 10 words, the headline conveys the supreme value of health, safety, and bureaucratic regulation to the American professional classes, as well as of the new status hierarchy constructed by the stakeholders in that regime. We pledge allegiance to our sainted dommes and to coercive power wielded through symbolic proxies in the name of public wellness. If only social media were somehow more directly involved, you’d have a full hymnal for the new American religion.

'Treat her gently': How an Israeli military search team helped recover Surfside victims

When Lt. Col. Golan Vach, commander of the Israeli Defense Forces’ National Rescue Unit, located a man’s ring while searching the debris field of the collapsed Champlain Towers South in Surfside, he knew immediately to whom it belonged.
