So, i heard on NPR this morning that Argentina, which early on not only legalized same-sex marriage, but permitted "transgenders" to retroactively change their IDs and birth certificates without legal or medical certification, has now created a 1% hiring quota in public employment for "transgenders," waiving certain legal and educational requirements.

Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 1: They already pick some people based on incompetence, like those investigating the AMIA bombing. The only competent one was murdered, You know, with Argentina's connection to Iran, I hope they send a few trans to their embassy in Iran.

Bacon, on the other hand, I am eating right now! I do not have to follow a kosher diet. Closest thing used to be "no meat on Friday", but I think that's even changed now.

Reply to Alice in Dairyland in 5: Fish is pretty common breakfast food. Lox, herring, kippers, smoked trout - used to have that a lot. This morning I made Çılbır - poached eggs in spiced yogurt with pepper oil.

And there was a lot of fish available at the breakfast at the Dan Intercontinental Tel Aviv when I was there on a business/vacation trip in 2000. A few months later, the Dolphinarium nightclub across the street got blown up in a terrorist attack.
