Morning, campers. Got up early today and got several things done before I left for work. It's a nice change.

I'm thinking crepes should never be combined with lettuce of any sort.

Since chocolate is native to the New World, the question is, would you be honoring America's native heritage or engaging in "cultural appropriation?"

I thought the interest in the case was because people love to talk about dirty Laundrie

It doesn't matter, because once it's in my stomach there's no evidence.

So we spent $70,000 on a server, since it was urgent we bought a Lenovo which was in stock.

It kept crashing. It had bad RAM 1.24TB of it.

Replaced the RAM.

It kept crashing.

Bad CPU.

Replaced the CPU

It kept crashing.

Bad motherboard.

Replaced motherboard.

It should work now.....

Over that last few weeks, literally 100's of man hours lost when server went down.

More than the server was worth....

Big Boss on the project got pissed.

Order 3 high end Cisco IT servers the rest of the company runs the business on. Those will run in redundantly so any one server goes down no interuptions.

It's amazing to me.... In our first meetings about the set up for this group I said "redundant failover servers".

"Nah we don't need that."

One place I worked, the building's power room flooded. Within a day, the company had a generator on site powering our servers. Worked at home until the building was habitable again.

I've heard that way too many times. Thankfully I don't have to manage too many servers here, and none of them are that critical.

Where I work, no Lenovo. Servers are Dell, desktops and laptops are Dell and Apple.

Plus some specialty computers for high performance uses, and a very large supercomputer center.

Got email from Dell; parts needed for my system are currently unavailable, but they expect to have them in 5 days or less.

As much as I like William Shatner, this is another example of him creating some cash using his former role as Kirk. He does this every so many years, usually making documentaries (as the news article notes), so this is another example of it. Doesn't mean it will be bad, or he won't have any good to say, but it's what he does when he's not taking care of his horses.
