Hypothesis: as people have gotten rid of God in US society, children are looking to other things to find meaning in their lives. The goal of today's educational bureaucrat is to have that person's gender take the place of religion and instill meaning by choosing bizarre genders.

Arguments pro and con are welcome. For myself, part of my argument centers on the role censors played in the 20th century to minimize the amount of obvious (for buzz, who knows all the lingo of the past) sex and innuendo on screen. (Perhaps I should say obvious to children and teens?) Once those censors were removed, sex became the predominant focus of society and culture, replacing God in the arts.

Once sex became so prevalent, the need to push the boundaries increased. The need to find value was destined to end up in sex with the sex-saturated society. But now that sex is not allowed, all the focus turns to genders.

Lots of holes to fix, patch up, and parts to throw out in that first draft of an argument.

Morning Sedition kicked off with the talking heads dithering about the problems of inflation and rising energy prices---without, of course, addressing in any way their connection to the economic disruptions of the lockdowns and other covid measures,  Biden's nixing of the Keystone pipeline and general hostility to the domestic energy industry, etc.  These things are merely visitations from some external divine source, or something.

They also vapored on about the FDA apparently approving some kind of e-cigarette which is not quite like other e-cigarettes (didn't catch why), but they were all concerned because some of these e-cigarettes might be---gasp!---tobacco-flavored, which is, apparently, worrisome.  I find the Left's insistence on attacking tobacco at every turn, while trying to put a pot dispensary on every corner, to be bizarre---and, following the federal acknowledgement of "Indigenous People's Day," isn't it cultural imperialism, or something of the sort, to be so opposed to one of the New World's great contributions to agriculture?

I did subject myself to a little bit of “morning edition“ on the drive into work. At one point they were talking about the current Dave Chapelle show on Netflix. As it happened, I watched it last night.  Of course NPR goes on and on about his supposed “trans phobic“ jokes. The remarkable thing is, the actual show is structured as a great big “can’t we all just get along?“ plea to the “trans community“; ending with a poignant story about his trans friend who committed suicide. But nope, that’s not enough. Dave committed Thoughtcrime and he has to be made to pay. Now, on the other hand, during the show he explicitly says “my problem is not with trans people, it’s with white people“; and makes a couple of completely gratuitous and rather leaden jokes about “space Jews“. But you notice he doesn’t get any flak for that.

On the whole, his whole performance felt a little “off“ to me. I chuckled a few times, but this was not the hilariously, naturally funny Dave Chapelle of 10 years ago. He’s way too full of self importance now.

Upon learning that Chappelle is a Muslim convert, I found his "Space Jews" bit quite offensive; it's clearly meant as a slap against the legitimacy of Israel, since the "Space Jews" who left Earth thousands of years ago are "coming back to re-assert ownership."

It's interesting how Chappelle is being praised on sites like Instapundit, often by people who claim to support Israel, and how people who are otherwise vocally suspicious of any sort of Muslim initiative manage to completely skate over the fact that Chappelle chose to become a Muslim.

New Shepherd has touched down and apparently everybody is well.  A successful flight. But the real question: did William Shatner manage to score while in space?

I think conservatives are just so desperate for any sort of “celebrity“ who pushes back in any way against political correctness orthodoxy, this sort of willful blindness tends to happen.

I think it simply highlights the lack of any cogent thinking that the left has. "Tobacco-bad, pot-good" is very simplistic thinking based solely on what makes (most) people feel better. Since tabacco has no high and causes lots of medical problems, it's very bad. Pot makes you feel good, so it's good.

I’ll admit I was a little bit worried that Shatner was going to have a heart attack or something. I’ll be the bazillionth person to say this, but man, he’s doing great for 90 years old.

I recognize that; I am merely pointing out that such desperation leads to very bad decisions.   I referred to him on Insty as basically being Stepin Fetchit with a foul mouth and a Glock, in that he's using a kind of "black privilege," if you'll forgive the term, to get away with whatever he's saying, whether it be against the excesses of Big Trans or against Israel's legitimacy---and, in a sense, he's using the former to make the latter acceptable, just as he uses his promiscuous use of The Enword to make his anti-white racism acceptable.

My  hypothesis....

The left has g-d. That g-d is The State. It has it's commandments, the first being you shall have no other g-ds before The State. The prophets of The State shall be obeyed. The articles of faith are abortion, gender confusion, and tyranny of thought.

Loudoun County Schools Tried To Conceal Sexual Assault Against Daughter In Bathroom, Father Says

On June 22, Scott Smith was arrested at a Loudoun County, Virginia, school board meeting, a meeting that was ultimately deemed an “unlawful assembly” after many attendees vocally opposed a policy on transgender students.

What people did not know is that weeks prior on May 28, Smith says, a boy allegedly wearing a skirt entered a girls’ bathroom at nearby Stone Bridge High School, where he sexually assaulted Smith’s ninth-grade daughter.

Juvenile records are sealed, but Smith’s attorney Elizabeth Lancaster told The Daily Wire that a boy was charged with two counts of forcible sodomy, one count of anal sodomy, and one count of forcible fellatio, related to an incident that day at that school.

Hearth site in Utah desert reveals human tobacco use 12,300 years ago

Scientists have unearthed evidence of a milestone in human culture - the earliest-known use of tobacco - in the remnants of a hearth built by early inhabitants of North America's interior about 12,300 years ago in Utah's Great Salt Lake Desert.

Researchers discovered four charred seeds of a wild tobacco plant within the hearth contents, along with stone tools and duck bones left over from meals. Until now, the earliest documented use of tobacco came in the form of nicotine residue found inside a smoking pipe from Alabama dating to 3,300 years ago.

The researchers believe the nomadic hunter-gatherers at the Utah site may have smoked the tobacco or perhaps sucked wads of tobacco plant fiber for the stimulant qualities offered by the nicotine it contained.

So if the pen is mightier than the sword, when are they going to come after high capacity toner cartridges?/

Just had to order one for my wife's printer. For what Staples charges ("special buy" $196) they could buy them at Amazon and make a profit ($147).

Canon itself is $157 but out of stock.

For some reason, on my computer, I can read PJ articles behind the paywall.

So here's an excerpt from the real reason for the trucker shortage - particularly at the port of LA and elsewhere in California

Twitter user Jerry Oakley reminds us that “Carriers domiciled in California with trucks older than 2011 model, or using engines manufactured before 2010, will need to meet the Board’s new Truck and Bus Regulation beginning in 2020.” Otherwise, “Their vehicles will be blocked from registration with the state’s DMV,” according to California law.

“The requirement is to purchase electric trucks which do not exist.”

(Hat tip to friend and former VodkaPundit guest-blogger Will Collier.)

And another reason:

“Traditionally the ports have been served by Owner Operators,” Oakley says, who are non-union. But under AB-5, “California has now banned Owner Operators.”

Just like the union longshoremen, union truckers work under a whole host of work rules that simply can’t accommodate crisis conditions like the ones in Los Angeles.

In fact, those work rules helped create the crisis conditions.

The exact language of AB-5 was copied and pasted into Presidentish Joe Biden’s $5 trillion (Or: Five Million Million Dollar) “Build Back Better” bill currently stalled in the Senate.

It’s one thing for Californians to screw themselves over, but AB-5 is hurting the entire country’s economy — and Washington Democrats want to take AB-5 nationwide.
