To be honest, I don't expect Youngkin to hold the office until after he's been sworn in--and even then, I expect the same type of shenanigans that the left played on Trump. Expect all the caterwauling to ratchet up against him and the other Republican winners.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 3: ++++++ Actually, it occurred to me that McAuliffe's loss could be a political sacrifice-bunt. Had the Democrats pulled the 3AM switcheroo/inundation, it would have kept talk about the irregularities in the 2020 election very much alive, but his going down in defeat can be used to try and shut people up about that---"See? How can you say there is vote/ballot fraud? McAuliffe lost, so that means that 2020 was all on the up-and-up too!"

Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 5: More likely, they'll accuse Youngkin of cheating. It's the iron law of woke projection. New Jersey is the real shocker. Everyone was so sure Ciattarelli didn't have a chance, the Dems may not have bothered to cheat. Even if Murphy is declared the winner, the tight vote count proves the fundamental weakness of the Dems even in deep blue areas.

Didn't you hear? Youngkin won because of a VA history textbook introduced in 1957 and officially withdrawn in 1972. It said Blacks liked slavery. That explains everything, particularly why GenX and Millenials in Loudoun county flipped their votes.

(At this point, I won't be surprised by any excuse put forth by Democrats.)

Blue checkmarks on Twitter are advancing this as a serious argument with many on the left nodding vigorously in agreement. In truth, the argument is cribbed from a No Tensile Coathanger essay from 2010.

I think The Narrative is still to avoid mentioning that whole Afghanistan unpleasantness, until low-info voters forget some of the details. THEN, it's full speed ahead with "GOP are like the Taliban".

Was it a reporter from CNN who first reported "FJB" as "Let's go, Brandon," or was it someone from another network?

A reporter from NBC Sports, interviewing NASCAR driver Brandon Brown (or so the internet informs me).

Thanks. I saw over on Insty that CNN was getting rather upset with the "Let's go, Brandon" thing, and I was wondering whether it was one of their own that had inadvertently started it.

So in other news, Kyle Rittenhouse is on trial for, effectively, his life. I held my nose and caught some NPR All Things Considered yesterday, in which they "reported" on the subject, in a blatantly-spun way. Among other things, one of the talking heads glowingly endorsed the malicious-prosecutor's statement along the lines of "of all the protests going on, only this one had someone killing someone else, with Kyle Rittenhouse doing the killing.>
This statement is of course 1) factually false, and 2) even if it were true, completely irrelevant to a self-defense claim in a homicide trial. The statement itself proves this is politically-motivated malicious prosecution.

Reply to vxbush in 40: Iran declared war on the US in 1979. It has called for "Death to the US" ever since. The US should be using any means necessary to prevent them from carrying out the threat. Failure will be worse than the Munich agreement.

The Democratic Socialists show they're not so far from National Socialists The Madison, Wisconsin chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) issued an open letter Monday calling for the expulsion of New York Democratic Congressman Jamaal Bowman from the movement, citing his support for funding Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system and his praise of the late US Secretary of State Colin Powell. My reply to that effect was not approved, I note Damn Demzis!
