About to make start the final leg back home.  I'll have to turn around and go back in a few days.  This is getting tedious.  I've also accepted that I don't think I'll get much of anything done for the next several weeks if not months.

To booster shot, or not to booster shot; that is the question.

IMAO

mRNA in the body is used to produce proteins, and is quickly broken down and recycled.

The mRNA inject was not fully tested, and it is not long term, the mRNA is broken down and it didn't "teach" the body to produce the spike protein long term, and since the body itself was producing the protein the immune system had trouble identifying it as foreign.

CDC data, all of it, not the cherry picked data sheet show the mRNA injection is somewhat effective in the first 90 to 120 days, the loses effectiveness, the CDC official report only includes the the first 90 days.

It also appears that the mRNA inject diminishes the natural immune response to the virus and other viruses.

The booster again, IMAO, will be a perpetual treadmill.

Now that, I had not heard. What is your source for that?

I've seem that the effectiveness lasts 6 months or so based on Israeli data.

There was an article in JPost about how they think (no evidence yet) that after 3 or maybe 4 shots the immunity will be long-term, based on other vaccines that are given over a few years to achieve long-term immunity,

No vaccine leaves the target proteins around long-term; it is the learned immune response that lasts.

Another JPost article did say that vaccination reduces severe cases by a factor of 200, The vaccine, however, does not prevent cases completely, or prevent transmission.

As for a booster shot, I'm eligible, but will wait until required or at least strongly suggested.

Drawing a conclusion form Israel and other areas with high vaccination rates that are experiencing high rates of COVID.

Plus this little tidbit.

Results SARS-CoV-2-naïve vaccinees had a 13.06-fold (95% CI, 8.08 to 21.11) increased risk for breakthrough infection with the Delta variant compared to those previously infected,

That's a no from me. I had no adverse reaction to the vaccine but I'd rather wait. My ex, OTOH, got the booster because he's a 58-year-old diabetic with high blood pressure who recently lost a toe. It makes sense for him.

Thanks, y’all. Wondering this since I’ll be seeing my 80-something year old parents for Thanksgiving; so if I want to pose less risk to them by doing so, I’d have to get the booster very soon, like tomorrow.

It was my understanding that your shot only protects you.  You can still carry the virus and spread it, but you don't get as sick from it.

It allegedly reduces your risk of becoming infected in the first place, thereby reducing the risk that you will spread it to others; *as well as* reducing your risk of serious illness should you become infected.

I didn't think it reduced your risk of becoming infected in the first place.  It only reduced your risk of serious illness should you become infected.  The vaccinated don't know they've become infected because of the lack of symptoms.

Isn't that the reasoning behind your having to wear a mask even though you've been vaccinated?

Just by the way...I was listening to Weekend Sedition this morning, and they were talking about the high gas prices, lack of oil, yadda yadda.  And, of course, they were talking about pleading with OPEC to increase production, possibly suing or sanctioning Saudi Arabia for not jacking up the pumps.

Not a single mention of President Gasbag and his executive orders shutting down Keystone, his restrictions on exploration/extraction from public lands, his proposal to kill another pipeline or two, his orders against fracking.  Not a word.

Biden is really working hard to replicate the Carter years when we could be wallowing in cheap domestic energy if he'd just have kept his mouth shut and his hand playing with himself in his pocket while he sniffed some kiddie's hair.  And National Proggie Radio is covering for him.

Wow.  That’s an idea so asinine, only a “Progressive” could have thought it up.
