Happy Friday.
So, who got up at 2 a.m. to see the partial lunar eclipse? (Not I.)

As it happened, I woke up randomly around 3 am anyway, but forgot about the eclipse. I was more about going back to sleep.

My thought for the morning: Some conservative commentators say that Biden/the Progs generally are awful for the working class, but great for the "credentialed ruling class". Yet it's not even that. The credentialed ruling class watch as the blue cities they inhabit turn into crime-ridden sh*tholes under the wise guidance of Biden and his state/local ilk. They may think they're immune from it, but they're not. But the Progs, like Milton's Satan, prefer to reign in Hell than serve (or even just "be decent citizens") in Heaven.

In one of his essays/short pieces on his travels, SJ Perelman goes to one of those lodges in Africa where tourists can watch the elephants and other wildlife feeding. He watches this stuff for a while, gets bored, and writes, "Fully aware that I was missing one of the unique experiences of my life, I went to bed."

Well it appears we finally have President Harris, at least temporarily. Don't know if she's been sworn in yet. Branden's being put under for his colonoscopy, so she gets to play president for a while. I don't know if he's going under general anesthesia or local, but the elderly don't always bounce back after general. Of course, it will be hard to tell in Branden's case.

Reply to Alice in Dairyland in 9: Point of order... “The weapon this officer appears to be using is a collapsible stick, designed to break windows in emergency situations. This stick is neither designed nor to be used against another human being.” Description fits an ASP, and yes it is design to be used on people. Training is to use it on soft tissue, specifically thigh or upper arm, the intention is stun a nerve in that part of the limb and temporarily numb the limb. In training and use of force guidelines, head strikes and joint strikes are to avoided if at all possible.

Reply to JCM in 11: I wonder if all the "police" in this event were really police. The FBI had instigators in the crowd, stirring up emotions and leading people to enter the building. Could they also have had fake police committing acts they didn't or couldn't get the real police to do. They could always fall back on plausible deniability then. "We didn't know they were there and never would have authorized this behavior" type thing. God, I hate being so paranoid.

Reply to Alice in Dairyland in 13: It sounds like from the article the ASP was being misused. An unintentional prohibited strike in the middle of a scuffle is one thing. Repeated prohibited strikes as described is a problem.
