I think they're trying to get away from the term hysteria to get people to take this as a serious problem with the information the MSM shares. Whatever they are being told is the hot one right now is the one they assume you have. So if you come in with the same set of symptoms but actually have a different problem, they assume you're just another case of the prevalent bug.
