vx, that's a lovely breakfast that neither of us can fully enjoy. I finally closed on my refinance yesterday. It almost didn't happen and they changed the time three times, but it got done. I can now get back to my regularly scheduled life.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 2: I really should have done it last fall, but I'm happy with it. I went to a 15-year, took out some cash, and my payment only went up by $115.

A writer demonstrates some of the problems that might occur in a constitutional convention held today. The point she raises is that all the shenanigans that happen now can potentially also happen in a convention, especially if progressives start seeing it as their opportunity to take over. The writer asks, as the title of her article,"If Conservatives Can’t Get Good Laws, How Can They Run An Article V Convention?" That question alone seems worthy of attention. How can we get good laws when we have a media complex beholden to progressive causes that have clearly pushed their agenda so hard that the majority of America doesn't see the danger of what is happening? Well, they do, and we all mouth great words and write great articles, but things aren't changing on the ground, are they? We all rally to De Santis, and love what he is doing, but where are all the other De Santis people out there? In a parallel thought, I note that former head of the Illinois house, Michael Madigan, was finally indicted in federal court on charges of racketeering and bribery. I found that out from Fox News, and not from a SINGLE downstate media entity in the state of Illinois. (Chicago covered it.) It is just incredibly depressing that the media won't cover the arrest of one of the most corrupt individuals in the state, who was left in place while governor after governor ended up behind bars. William Wilberforce was able to stop slavery in the UK when he was almost alone against his entire government. Where are the Wilberforces of America?

Many of us have been pointing this out for a long time. This Article V Convention idea is a bad one.

I've got a "culture-jamming" idea. Let's start a movement on social media to boycott wines produced in the Russian River valley.

Things are not good with my Ukrainian connections. DIL's parents are trapped in an occupied village, hoping to get a train to the border. Unfortunately, the closest border is Russia. Next closest is Moldova. Geographically, the most direct way is to travel by boat down the Dnipro to the Black Sea, but I suspect that's impossible now.

Yikes. Well, hopefully they can just keep their heads down until either there's a resolution, or they find a safe passage out.

The Russians in Ukraine still have RPGs, but they're not playing games with them.
