How much slanted press does $1 billion dollars get you?
The Biden administration made direct payments to nearly all major corporate media outlets to deploy a $1 billion taxpayer-funded outreach campaigndesigned to push only positive coverage about COVID-19 vaccines and to censor any negative coverage. Media outlets across the nation failed to disclose the federal government as the source of ads in news reports promoting the shots to their audiences. According to a Freedom of Information Request filed by The Blaze, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) purchased advertising from major news outlets including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox News, CNN and MSNBC. HHS also ran media blitzes in major media publications including The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, New York Post, BuzzFeed News, Newsmax and hundreds of local TV stations and newspapers across the nation.

If I asked this before, I forget the answer: why the hell is everyone, particularly the media and even more particularly NPR, dumping on the Sacklers for "having caused the opioid epidemic"? The Sackler-owned company manufactured and distributed an FDA-approved drug. They did not prescribe it. They did not sell it to street dealers and junkies. They are not responsible for the opioids being cooked up domestically in illegal labs or being smuggled across the border. Why are they being made the scapegoats for all this? Surely the federal government---not only the FDA, but the DEA---deserves much of the opprobrium. Surely the Sacklers are not responsible for the street-addict situation. One suspects they are being made the scapegoats to cover federal malfeasance. One also suspects, albeit most unwillingly, that this may be another instance in the long historical cavalcade of governments finding Jewish scapegoats to distract an easily-stampeded populace.

My other thought is that anyone who holds conservative views of any kind must be demonized by the government and media. See the Koch brothers, who weren't even that conservative but were often the targets of many campaigns against them.

Reply to buzzsawmonkey in 2: There is some evidence that the company paid for "research" showing that oxycontin was not addictive, even though it was, and they gave doctors free meals and other stuff to push their product, and overprescribe. It was actually safe when used for only a few days, but was prescribed longer. However, I have from indirect information that junkies don't find oxycontin to be the problem, but fentanyl and other street drugs, which now largely come from China. Personally, I think they went after the company because they could get money from it. There has been a push for a while now to deny strong painkillers to those who need them, and sometimes I wonder if this is to push people onto street drugs so the government can claim an epidemic, and get more power.

Yes, but Soros gets away with spending more lobbying money, and the leftists scream antisemitism when he is criticized - even though he does not identify as a Jew, and supports antisemitic causes.

Meanwhile: Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists say they will not move "Doomsday Clock" closer to midnight, despite Uke war and Russian nuclear forces being put on alert, due to the fact that, um, reasons (the reason being, really, "it might make a Democrat look bad"); and, related, Pugwash express their concern over the Uke war, and declare that the way out of the crisis is... capitulation to Russian demands. Plus ça change, etc.

Ukraine Museums Desperately Working To Preserve Priceless Hunter Biden Paintings "We were lucky to get our hands on Hooked By Hookers, it's quite a popular piece," said curator Viktor Dankevych as he took the piece down for safe storage in a bomb shelter. "But more importantly, we know it means that President Biden will take care of Ukraine in our time of need. I hear the planes overhead, the air raid sirens, I do not panic. I know the United States will come to help."

WCRB (Boston Classical station) is playing a symphonic version of Rhapsody in Blue, by the Baltimore Symphony. I have to admit the music stands up to the treatment, but it isn't as good as jazzier versions

Iran Nuclear Talks Near Collapse as Russia Demands Protection From Sanctions The Iran nuclear talks are on the precipice of collapse over last-minute Russian demands for sanctions protection, according to two diplomats. Negotiations have reached an impasse over the Russian requests, diplomats said, imperiling the revival of a 2015 landmark deal under which Iran limited its nuclear ambitions in exchange for sanctions relief. Russia is requesting that any return to the agreement include guarantees that any future Russian business with Iran be exempt from EU and U.S. sanctions — a late curveball from Moscow in response to the crippling penalties the country is facing over its invasion of Ukraine. Talks with the modern-day spiritual descendants of Haman on building their gallows for the Jewish people are reaching some form of conclusion very close to Purim.

What could go wrong? I can see Russia and China helping Iran to eliminate the Great Saran first, except they're just letting Biden do it.

Ok, I ended up making one of the most amazing dinners I've ever had. And the joke is that I was having to improvise because at the very last minute I realized I didn't have a key ingredient for what I had planned to make and had to come up with a substitute.
