Amulet with proto-Hebrew writing from around 1400 BCE appears to confirm Biblical account of Israelites' entry to Israel.

“I believe the amulet dates to the Late Bronze II age, or as early as 1400 BC,” Stripling told The Jerusalem Post. “This is older than any Hebrew script that has ever been published by at least 200 years.

“This is earlier than many skeptics believe the Bible existed,” he continued, “making this the earliest appearance of the word YHWH in Israel and it was found at a covenant site. The implications are enormous and will reverberate for many years to come.”

So when will the "Palestinians" claim either it is a fake or theirs?

Heh. Yesterday, if they can get away with it.

Let's give them home detention!

2 teen fugitive suspects in pawn shop robbery now prime suspects in Tacoma pot shop murder

TACOMA, Wash. — The Tacoma Police Department said Thursday that is searching for two teen fugitives who cut off their electronic monitoring devices from a previous armed robbery and are now suspects in the murder of a pot shop employee last weekend.

A police spokesperson said Montrell D. Hatfield, 16, and Marshon Jones, 15, are considered armed and dangerous and are the prime suspects in the fatal shooting last Saturday night at the World of Weed, located in the 3200 block of Portland Ave. E.

Very interesting. I would have liked to see the inscription, though.

I do hope this whole debacle wakes us (collectively) up to the question: How did we come to depend on such flimsy, easily-disrupted supply chains in the first place?

I note that it was excavated at Shiloh.

I bet they found a lot of Minié  balls, too...

Well, and then there's this conclusion:

"“This changes our timeline for the Exodus from Egypt and subsequent entry into Israel,” Stripling said.
Scholars are at near consensus that the Exodus and Israelite establishment in Canaan happened during the 13th century BC. "

The author here is resting on the assumption that the Israelites first arrived in Canaan via Exodus from Egypt.  Another possible explanation, of course, is that they were there "to begin with".  And my non-scholarly understanding of the thing is that the claim in that second sentence of "near consensus" is stretching things.

Big Steamers
---Rudyard Kipling
"Oh, where are you going to, all you Big Steamers,
With England's own coal, up and down the salt seas?"
"We are going to fetch you your bread and your butter,
Your beef, pork, and mutton, eggs, apples, and cheese."

"And where will you fetch it from, all you Big Steamers,
And where shall I write you when you are away?
"We fetch it from Melbourne, Quebec, and Vancouver--
Address us at Hobart, Hong-Kong, and Bombay."

"But if anything happened to all you Big Steamers,
And suppose you were wrecked up and down the salt sea?"
"Then you'd have no coffee or bacon for breakfast,
And you'd have no muffins or toast for your tea."

"Then I'll pray for fine weather for all you Big Steamers,
For little blue billows and breezes so soft."
"Oh, billows and breezes don't bother Big Steamers,
For we're iron below and steel-rigging aloft."

"Then I'll build a new lighthouse for all you Big Steamers,
With plenty wise pilots to pilot you through."
"Oh, the Channel's as bright as a ball-room already,
And pilots are thicker than pilchards at Looe."

"Then what can I do for you, all you Big Steamers,
Oh, what can I do for your comfort and good?"
"Send out your big warships to watch your big waters,
That no one may stop us from bringing you food.

"For the bread that you eat and the biscuits you nibble,
The sweets that you suck and the joints that you carve,
They are brought to you daily by all us Big Steamers--
And if anyone hinders our coming you'll starve!"

In case you missed it the other day:

What is Woman?

—apologies to Helen Reddy, and “I Am Woman”

“What is ‘woman’?” Blackburn asked

And Brown Jackson failed the task—

Although “woman” is why she’s the nominee,

She couldn’t toe the party line

When she was asked to define

And still stay consistent with biology

Oh, yes! How she tried

Transparently to evade

Having to declare her side

And the ideas in which it trades

If she has to, she will say anything

Right or wrong

Without principle

What a woman!

And speaking of which; Manchin just announced he'll vote to confirm.  Which is what I expected.

So, "I don't know what a woman is" is not a disqualifier for serving as an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of the United States.
