So this brings another angle to whether the Oscars slap was publicity or not

Pfizer — together with COVID-jab partner BioNTech — was a major sponsor of Sunday’s Oscars award ceremony, a broadcast that unexpectedly shone an un-missable spotlight on the hair-loss disease alopecia. In one heck of a coincidence, Pfizer just happens to be in a race for market dominance of its soon-to-be-released cure for — you guessed it — alopecia.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if it was a huge setup.

Morning, Kosh and everyone.

I think that's at the very least a strong possibility.

I've also seen slow-mo video of the incident which seems to show Rock anticipating the slap, wincing before Smith had even raised his hand.

In other news: Let's Go Brandon's wise stewardship of this country has Americans fleeing to Mexico... to gas up, anyway.

Tucker's been a little out there on some aspects of Ukraine/Russia; but in this segment on the alarming and dangerous trend of Senile Biden blurting out fundamental US foreign policy changes, he's entirely on-point.

Worth reposting from yesterday:

Psaki Reminds Reporters That Biden Doesn't Speak For The President Of The United States

"But Jen!" said a feisty Peter Doocy, "Don't you think these inconsistent statements could cause World War III and unleash CRT on our kids all at once? Why did Biden have to walk back his statements?"

"We would like to walk back the statement that we have ever walked back any statements," said a frustrated Psaki. "But if you find any statements that we have walked back let me know and we'll circle back later to walk back our walk-back."

I read that to my husband yesterday and he said it was scary how close to reality this was.

They went further today

"Let me take a moment to circle back to President Biden's statement that no one is walking back statements," said Press Secretary Jen Psaki. "We are going to walk back that statement. Now this current statement we promise will not be walked back, so you can trust the not-walking-back of this walk-back of not walking ba-OH MY GOSH WHAT IS THAT?!" screamed Psaki as space and time began to fold in on itself.

This would all be too damn funny if it weren't so damn serious.

Say, I wonder if the Bulletin of the Super-Concerned Atomic Scientist-y People moved that clock closer to midnight, after Biden 1) declared that the US might use chemical weapons, 2) blandly referred to US airborne troops being sent to Ukraine, or 3) suddenly announced regime change in Moscow as (kinda? sorta?) US policy?

We know the answer, don't we.

But Reagan calling the Soviet Union an Evil Empire, THAT was the closest ever to armageddon.

Kosh, you posted "Celluloid Heroes" the other day, and I posted a fragment of the following.  Found the full thing, and here it is:

Grievance Theater
—apologies to the Kinks, and “Celluloid Heroes”

Everybody’s a victim
Everybody has scars

Everybody is special
It doesn’t matter who you are
There are barrels of excuses
You can use for your defeats
Or you can lobby for special privilege
That will be cast into concrete

Don’t be so crude and tasteless
As to let your talents gleam
Because you just might injure
Someone’s fragile self-esteem
Go around with visage downcast
You know it’s all society’s fault
Stop your ears up like Ulysses
If someone asks “Who is John Galt?”

You can see grievances coming at you every day, long and hard
Some that you recognize, some that you’ve hardly even heard of
People who recognize that it’s too much effort to strive
And instead they want prizes, simply for being alive

Everybody’s a victim
Everyone has a grievance too
Though less if you’re white, or male
Or should you chance to be a Jew
But please don’t feel excluded
Now and then we will relent
And even let you outcasts
Into the big tent of resentment

I’m glad my life is a nonstop theater of grievance whines
In which I make other people pay for what I feel should be mine
‘Cause grievance theater is all about getting gain without any pain
And the grievances of grievance theater never really die…
