Given my inability to post during the day, we need to find a way to pay for this site (in December, so we have time) I CANNOT take money directly without problems. I need to give some others access to the hosting account to pay it.

In yesterday's #17 buzzsawmonkey said: I'm watching a bunch of bloggers hating on Mike Pence at another blog, convinced that he stabbed Trump in the back, that he could have refused to certify the 2020 results, etc. I've never thought Pence any great ball of fire, or tower of strength, but I don't see him being a blind hate-Trump type as Liz Cheney seems to be. What's really weird is seeing all these people who spend the lion's share of their time online decrying the misrepresentations and perfidy of the mainstream media swallowing the mainstream reportage whole when it happens to feed their emotions.
An excellent point.

A small piece of interesting ethnograghy: Most people are aware that the title of Lorraine Hansberry's iconic play, "A Raisin in the Sun," is taken from a poem by Langston Hughes: What happens to a dream deferred?/Does it dry up, like a raisin in the sun? What is less known is that Hughes' phrase "a raisin in the sun" is a punning twist on a black folk song/spiritual "Racing With the Sun," which goes like this: Get your day's work done/Get your day's work done Or soon you'll be/Racing with the sun Make your plans today/'Fore the evening comes, Or soon you'll be/Racing with the sun Hard, hard times/That you've had Hard, hard times/But today you're mighty glad 'Cause your work's all through/And your battle's won Now you'll never, never be/Racing with the sun. I was listening to the song, performed by Ella Jenkins, a popular performer of the '60s folk era, and thought I'd share the observation.

Mac users: If you have Monterey installed, make sure you update to the latest 12.5.1. It includes some important security updates that make your system secure from some real exploits that bad actors are already taking advantage of.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 6: I am surmising, on the basis of overwhelming probability---just as I surmise that the scene in Ralph Ellison's "Invisible Man" (which abounds with jazz/song references) wherein the unnamed narrator buys two hot yams from a street vendor and holds one aloft in each hand is a reference to the song/dance "The Yam" (performed by Astaire and Roger's in "Carefree," and by Astaire with Ray Noble's orchestra). The ethno-linguistic cognates for "Raisin/Racing" are too close to not be connected with intent.

We could always ask my buddy, celebrity racist Ta Nehisi-Coates for confirmation, since I am informed he is "the reincarnation of Langston Hughes"...

It provides equal protection! No, that's not good enough. We need a diverse and inclusive deodorant that can provide equity across all sweat levels. /

Not even with the lesser gravity? I'd think it would be easier to raise them if they didn't weigh so much.

Yeah, but the lower gravity makes toilet training more difficult.

I will set you up with access to the hosting account and let you know when the payment date approaches (December) But with someone else on the hosting account, we can keep this running longer should Hillary get me to commit suicide or something/ I'll let you know when I do this (weekend at the soonest)

Reply to Kosh's Shadow in 19: The lyrics I was thinking of:
And you run and you run To catch up with the sun But it's sinking
Racing around To come up behind you again The sun is the same
In a relative way But you're older Shorter of breath And one day closer to death

God, but I hate rock "music"---and the singers who sound like Alex Jones trying to get his bowels to move. It is only my esteem for you that caused me to listen to the end of this ...thing.

Would a pub thread get more people to post? It does not seem so, but if I get replies that it would, I'll see.
