Things continue to crumble.

Amid rising numbers of attacks on Seattle firefighters, union seeks better protections

“They are being assaulted when they are going on service calls and that's something new," Fuda said. "Whether it be mental illness or drugs, whatever the case might be."

House I was interested in went under contract and then the buyer backed out. The other agent was nice enough to send the inspection report.  Pretty bad - now I understand why the price was so good.

Gotta call my agent later - some other things have come on the market that look promising.

I had been thinkiong of getting flight simulator software, and this was reccommended by someone in a previous group I worked for

x-plane

Downloaded the demo overnight. Seems to give you maybe 30 minutes and then asks you to buy it; current version is $30 because a new one is coming out soon (and no, this doesn't get the upgrade)

The demo was enough to get me hooked.

Bought it. Now another 5 hour download to get US scenery.

So, I'm like Lucy - I have a lot of x-plane-ing to do.

X-Plane is the most aerodynamically accurate with, it comes with really good scenery. The navigation tools are so good it counts as studying for FAA exams.

There is a pro version, that when used with FAA-approved simulator controls and display counts as FAA approved simulation component of pilot training. That version costs more. And if you connect the cheap version to that equipment, it won't run.

I did buy a not too expensive joystick and throttle, as the simulator is very sensitive to mouse movement. I crashed about 4 times partially due to that. Joystick will come Monday. And there is no way to set mouse sensitivity. Also moving the mouse away from me pushes the indicator on the screen up, but is the same as pushing a yoke/joystick away, which is nose down. That helped cause the first crash.

My son has DCS, the Combat simulator, with HOTAS stick and throttle and a VR display. He's earned all that for good grades.

It wild to be in the sim with the VR.

I am often amazed at the stupidity of spammers, and wonder how anyone can be fooled.

They've been putting some actual legitimate newsletter in their spam for a while, with the text hidden and phishing or malware links added. The anti-spam software sees the actual content and does not block it, but email programs do not display the newsletter, just the spam links.

But in the most recent example I got, they forgot to change the title. It purported to be from Southwest Airlines, but the title was the original on the copied newsletter, about a poetry contest. They were so dumb they forgot to change the title to YOU WON!!!!!!!! or something similar.

Are you a Nigerian prince or something?

I wish I had saved the physical mail (not stamped, but left in a roadside mailbox) with the classic 419 scam, claiming to be a Nigerian prince. This was before most people had email.

This was my favorite scam email. I kept it for fun

Dear Friend:

This mail may not be surprising to you if you have been following current

events in the international media with reference to the Middle East and

Palestine in particular. I am Mrs. SUHA ARAFAT, the wife of YASSER ARAFAT,

the Palestinian leader who died recently in Paris. Since his death and even

prior to the announcement, I have been thrown into a state of antagonism,

confusion, humiliation, frustration and hopelessness by the present leadership

of the Palestinian Liberation Organization and the new Prime Minister. I

have even been subjected to physical and psychological torture. As a widow

that is so traumatized,

I have lost confidence with everybody in the country at the moment. You

must have heard over the media reports and the Internet on the discovery

of some fund in my husband secret bank account and companies and the allegations

of some huge sums of money deposited by my husband in my name of which I

have refuses to disclose or give up to the corrupt Palestine Government.

In fact the total sum allegedly discovered by the Government so far is in

the tune of about $6.5 Billion Dollars. And they are not relenting on their

effort to make me poor for life. As you know, the Moslem community has no

regards for woman, hence my desire for a foreign assistance. I have deposited

the sum of 20 million dollars with a security firm abroad whose name is

withheld for now until we open communication. I shall be grateful if you

could receive this fund into your bank account for safe keeping and any

Investment opportunity.

This arrangement is known to you and my personal Attorney. He might be dealing

with you directly for security reasons as the case may be. In view of the

above, if you are willing to assist for our mutual benefits, we will have

to negotiate on your Percentage share of the $20,000,000 that will be kept

in your position for a while and invested in your name for my trust pending

when my Daughter, Zahwa, will come off age and take full responsibility

of her Family Estate/inheritance. Please note that this is a golden opportunity

that comes once in life time and more so, if you are hornet, I am going

to entrust more funds in your care as this is one of the legacy we keep

for our children. In case you don't accept please do not let me out to the

security and international media as I am giving you this information in

total trust and confidence I will greatly appreciate if you accept my proposal

in good faith. Please expedite action.

PLEASE I WILL NOT BE ATTENDING TO YOU AFTER THIS MAIL FOR SECURITY REASON,

ANY FURTHER RESPOND WILL BE FORWARDED TO OUR FAMILY ATTORNEY IN LONDON (Barrister

Batman Cole). YOU MAY CONTACT THE ATTORNEY DIRECT WITH YOUR FULL CONTACT

Interesting - the raid on Trump might have been for documents that showed the Russia collusion hoax to be a hoax

Anonymous intelligence officials have told Newsweek they know exactly what the FBI was really after: documents related to the Russian collusion hoax — also known as Operation Crossfire Hurricane.

“Trump was particularly interested in matters related to the Russia hoax and the wrong-doings of the deep state,” one official told Newsweek. “I think he felt, and I agree, that these are facts that the American people need to know.”

The Trump-Russia collusion claims have long been debunked, so why exactly were these documents, which Trump had declassified already, of such interest to the FBI that they conducted an unprecedented raid on Trump’s home?

That brings us to the second reason why this leak is so interesting. This week we learned that the FBI unit responsible for the raid is the same unit responsible for the Trump-Russia collusion hoax investigation.

Does this mean the raid itself was an attempt by the FBI to cover up its culpability in the Trump-Russia hoax with the added bonus of making Trump look like he’s guilty of a serious crime? That’s what it sounds like to me.
