Worth reposting from yesterday - we live in a banana republic

Interesting - the raid on Trump might have been for documents that showed the Russia collusion hoax to be a hoax

Anonymous intelligence officials have told Newsweek they know exactly what the FBI was really after: documents related to the Russian collusion hoax — also known as Operation Crossfire Hurricane.

“Trump was particularly interested in matters related to the Russia hoax and the wrong-doings of the deep state,” one official told Newsweek. “I think he felt, and I agree, that these are facts that the American people need to know.”

The Trump-Russia collusion claims have long been debunked, so why exactly were these documents, which Trump had declassified already, of such interest to the FBI that they conducted an unprecedented raid on Trump’s home?

That brings us to the second reason why this leak is so interesting. This week we learned that the FBI unit responsible for the raid is the same unit responsible for the Trump-Russia collusion hoax investigation.

Does this mean the raid itself was an attempt by the FBI to cover up its culpability in the Trump-Russia hoax with the added bonus of making Trump look like he’s guilty of a serious crime? That’s what it sounds like to me.

NPR was babbling today about some new "climate change" scheme whereby they're proposing to vacuum CO2 out of the air and bury it deep underground to reduce climate warming/global change.

Leaving aside that the very proposal sounds nuts, the amount of energy it would take to do something like that isn't going to come from wind and solar---hell, they wouldn't have enough even if they put a nuclear reactor in every neighborhood.

These people are insane.

On a similar note, was talking yesterday to a friend who is highly vegan/organic, etc., who was fretting about the drought that we are apparently experiencing.  I pointed out that droughts happen---the Hunger Stones that OR mentioned the other day show that they are not a new thing---and that if people are really worried about this, they should get the desalinization plants cranked up and running round the clock, the more so since these same people are the ones fretting about "rising sea levels," and if anything is going to lower those, I'd think a whole lotta desalinizing would be the thing.

At which point he got fretful about the amount energy such an effort might require.  Sorry, you can't have cost-free solutions; you're short of drinking water and want to lower the ocean, you've got to spend some energy.

This belief that they can just will their ridiculous fantasies into being without tradeoffs is one of the craziest things about these people.

Certainly sounds like it.

Note that classification is not supposed to be used to hide illegal activity.

If a rogue agency is already engaging in criminal activity---which it also, of course, is "not supposed to do"---what on earth would stop it from using classification to cover up said activity.   And, while we're at it, weren't their "classification" issues about Doc Fauci spending money with the Chinese that he "wasn't supposed to be" spending, and for supporting "gain of function" research that he "wasn't supposed to be" doing?

Sure, they would classify it - but that means that Trump's declassification of the material should stick.

And it would be marked as declassified, including date and authority. Copying said material after declassification is perfectly legal, ,and I would hope declassified copies were kept not just in Mar-a-largo but elsewhere.

Of course, the MSM would not publish something that supports Trump, but they would gladly publish classified material that fits with their agenda (see The Pentagon Papers for an example), so the chance of it actually becoming available is low, but nonzero.

My first successful landing! Bounced and swerved around a bit. Will be easier with a joystick.

Every landing you walk away from is a good landing.

Rule 1:

Thy number of takeoff shall equal thy number of landings.

Rule 2:

Maintain thy airspeed least the earth rise up and smite thee.

Which counts for any simulated landing, whether it is a total crash or perfect landing

Rule 1 reminds me about the difference between submarines and other ships.

All ships can submerge. Only submarines can surface again.

When the Israeli Navy selected crews for their submarines, they first went to paratroops - they figured anyone who would jump out of a perfectly good airplane would also submerge in a perfectly good ship.

Fact:

There are more airplanes in the ocean than submarines in the sky.

And there are very few airships any more, either.

Just got back from looking at houses.  Found one I really like - the kids like it too.  Really hoping I can make this work.

We're all rooting for you.

Meanwhile, I can't decide whether to cue up "Gimme Shelter,"  "A Cottage For Sale," or merely quote Elmer Fudd to the effect of "Be vewy, vewy quiet.  I'm hunting houses."
