Chocolate-Frosted Sugar Bombs are part of this complete breakfast.

LOL. Yes, I noticed that too. Chocolate frosted sugar bombs always sounded great as a desert choice, but never as a breakfast cereal in my mind.

RE: COVID: When the actuaries get involved, you get real information. It's not pretty.

Did you know that dad can be simply “erased”?  By Big Uncle Sugar!

The government is erase-ist!

BTW, the far-left nutbar candidate for NY State Senate I gave an earful to the other day apparently beat his opponent the ex-Schumer aide in the primary.

Gotta figure out where to move to.

Semi-serious suggestion: Israel?

I believe under Obama the gov't assumed all student loans.

This means that there are no private lenders who can sue for an unjust taking etc....

The ones who take it in the shorts are all the hardworking net taxpayers.

So: When does the Mafia take over Mexico?  We're already 5 years overdue on both factors.

Old joke:  "How do you retire to Israel with a small fortune? Move there with a large fortune."

Maybe if I were somewhat younger.  Starting afresh in a new country---even one where I know some people and some of the language---at 70 is a bit much.   What little family both I and the GF have is here, and I want enough space to be able to enjoy as much as I want to keep of the stuff I've spent my life accumulating.

Hated Florida when I went to school there.  Don't like the heat/humidity, the footlong grasshoppers, etc.  Never, fortunately encountered either a hurricane or poisonous snakes, but they have lots of 'em.  Also, you practically have to drive to go the toilet---very few places within walking distance of other places.  I'd assume the cultural situation is not as dire as it was back in the '70s, when there was hardly a bookstore (new or used) in the entire Greater Miami area.

And, of course, if "everybody is moving there," it probably costs more to get less.

I have no great suggestions. I live in New York Lite.

One of my favorite Billy Joel songs. Turnstiles > The Stranger.

Wow.

Catholic Charities of Omaha conducted  realistic "active shooter" drill in office... but didn't tell employees... or the cops.

And it gets worse (although not as bad as it could have).

Just got a new phone, so now I have a new phone and a doorstop.  So far, I'm just barely this side of hating it, since several things have not logged in/loaded on the new one---plus, of course, I had to get a NEW charger cord (God forbid that they make the new phones to fit the old cords) AND new earbuds.

To hell with miracle technology.

I hear you.  We still have our older phones but it's just a matter of time before they will no longer work.

I assume an iPhone? The EU is forcing Apple to use USB-C chargers on new phones.

We moved to USB-c a while ago, but also use wireless chargers. Well, the chargers connect to the power source with a wire, but use an induction coil to charge the phone. Wife loves it because she is constantly picking up her phone and would have to unplug it and plug it in again

And a jukebox for your relocation comments in the daytime thread

No, it's an Android, a Samsungthing-or-other.  2.5 hours and it's still "getting" my gmail messages.  Still won't let me log into Google Mylar---excuse me, "Chrome," of course.

Only reason I got the damn thing was that I found out my business line couldn't be wholly "imported" to my previous phone, only "forwarded," which meant that I couldn't get text messages on the business number but only the cellphone number.   I'm hoping this is merely the "newlywed interlude," and that the stinking piece of junk will actually start to do what it's supposed to over the next day or two.

And while we're playing Alan Sherman, here one with the great line "and give up smoting for good"

It takes a LONG time to download everything to a new phone, even at 5G.

I give it overnight. If your old one used a micro-USB, it must have been over 5 years old. Our last 2 phones each have used USB-C

BTW, I find Korean phones fragile, and I do drop stuff. Motorola was good, but they're Chinese now, so I have a Google Pixel 5. Has a great feature - call screening. I can have it say to the other party that I am using a screening service, and will watch it generate a transcript of the call. Many spammers recognize it and hang up.

And probably my favorite Alan Sherman song - I love the line "trampling through the warehouse where the drapes of Roth are stored"
