Reply to Occasional Reader in 1: Is that a commemoration of Herod's "Slaughter of the Innocents?"

Apparently, yes. (it was what popped up when I searched for a holiday on this date.) So perhaps “happy” it’s not the right word….

Reply to Occasional Reader in 3: It would, however, be a good day for anti-abortion agitation. Some years ago I proposed the idea of an anti-abortion art contest and show, built around a "slaughter of the innocents" theme, and with some nice cash prizes for the contest winners. Properly done---and with a multi-city exhibition tour---it could be a useful political and teaching tool. Particularly nice is that it uses art to make the point, art being largely the province of the Left. It would also be fun to watch normally left-leaning artists trying for the prize money.

I'm not saying there wouldn't be issues, especially security issues---I'm merely suggesting it might be worth doing, and partly for that very reason. However, "Innocents Day" would also be an excellent date for the presentation of the Gosnell Award, for the most egregious abuses of the abortion industry---and, possibly, in the not-unrelated abuses of children by the "transgender/transition" crowd. The coveted Empty Bronze Baby Shoes trophy would go to the person who had done the most to promote abortion in the previous year.

Reply to doppelganglander in 9: The late Andrew Breitbart always used to say, "Politics are downstream from culture." It seems to me that there are a number of ways that the culture, and cultural events, could be used to counter the pro-abortion machine. Some time ago, I suggested that states enact truth-in-advertising laws which took a leaf from the signs/marquees that used to be out front of every McDonald's, where they said "Over X million served." If a state legislature could pass a law (and make it stick) that mandated abortion parlors have a constantly-updated sign that said, "Over X thousand aborted," that would, perhaps, make people think. Of course, Planned Parenthood would scream bloody murder, at which point one could reply by saying, "Yes. Precisely."

One could pay for a billboard near the clinic and keep it updated, in the same way that there are billboards keeping running titals of America’s deficit. Depending on the location, one might include an ethnic breakdown of the aborted. “New and Improved Abortion Mill! Now with even more aborted black fetuses!”

Study: 'Gender-affirming Care' for Children Has No Medical Benefits “The ‘gender-affirming’ model of care for teenagers is based on evidence that falls apart under examination,” Sex Matters says. “There is strong evidence that this medical pathway causes physical harm. It can lead to infertility and loss of future sexual function; among multiple side effects, bone health suffers.” According to Sex Matters, these side effects might be tolerable if there were substantial mental health advantages associated with them. However, the study discovered that there are no mental health advantages. “Perhaps there are some teenagers for whom the cost-benefit analysis works out — but we have no evidence to tell us which ones, or under what circumstances,” the group explains. “We do know that the physical impacts are significant, and the mental-health improvements minimal.” So, anyone who says that "gender affirming care" is good for kids, is a science denier! Including our Assistant Secretary of Health Earlier this year, Robert “Rachel” Levine, Joe Biden’s Assistant Secretary of Health, claimed without evidence that there is consensus in the medical community that so-called “gender-affirming care” is good for kids.

Submitted for your approavel: Something I do not see mentioned anywhere is why Jew-hatred
has persisted, and that is somewhat Kabbalistic.
(I prefer the coarser term "Jew-hatred" to the
sanitized "scientific" antiSemitism) The reason is the lower world, and those bound to it - the
Greeks, Romans, and their successors who find beauty only in the physical
world) - reject the connection to the Divinity of the upper worlds. Yet that
connection is the purpose of Creation, and it is the job of Jews, so those who
want to stay in the physical world forcefully reject the connection, and thus
hate those who would bring the connection about - the Jews.

For some reason I heard this as the setup to a punchline, in a Groucho Marx voice.
