Boston is unveiling a memorial to Martin Luther King, based on a photo of him embracing Coretta Scott King, as they met at BU.

A somewhat grotesque image of hands - nothing directly showing MLK and apparently having nothing about his dream.

Probably because he wanted all races to be treated the same; he did not embrace intersectionality and identity politics. So honor the person but not his vision. He was canceled the hard way years ago.

As for the FAA meltdown, Congress wants to blame the FAA, but if this is anything like the early 1980's when I was a contractor at DOT TSC in Cambridge (now the Volpe center), then Congress denied the funding to upgrade the system years ago. They did it to the enroute system back then; found any excuse not to spend money to upgrade computers that were over 10 years old. Sure, the architecture was out of date, but arguably a correct approach in the mid-1960's before microprocessors.

My X-Files-ish moment of the day;

This morning, Little OR and I were preparing to take a walk, and he proposed we play "20 questions", in which each of us would have to think of a  "character", and the other would have to guess.

For whatever reason, the character "Popeye" immediately popped (no pun intended) into my mind; but after thinking a bit, I dismissed it, because I wasn't even sure my son knows who he is; we've never seen Popeye cartoons or movies, or read comic strips or books about him; as far as I know, he's had no exposure to him.  So I silently picked another character instead.

But Little OR said he wanted to "go first", meaning he'd think of the character and I'd guess.  So we proceeded thus.  My questions and his answers went something like:

Q: Is this character a real person?

A: No.

Q: Is he supposed to be human?

A: Yes.

Q: Does he live on Earth?

A: Yes.

Q: In the US?

A: I... think so, yes, but I'm not sure.

And we went on for a bit, but I was stumped, so he offered me a clue: "He is associated with bodies of water."

Q: Is he Aquaman?

A [LIttle OR laughing[: No!  He travels ON the water, not under it.

Q: Does he do that in a ship?

A: Yeah, a boat, or a ship.

Q: [with, I think, my eyes widening to saucers, slightly alarmed] Is he... Popeye?

A: [Little OR with a big grin and a thumbs-up] YES!

I then explained to him how THOROUGHLY  freaked out I was, and why.

I would have freaked out too. Perhaps he has played this game with others.

I watched it too. Two vegetables for Popeye - spinach and yams - I yam what I yam

Yep!  When our daughter was in second grade she told the class that she liked spinach and chicken livers, the other kids freaked out.

There was a British fast food chain Wimpy, but I doubt they'd let you pay Tuesday for a hamburger today.

I learned about the chain in Israel around 1970. Was able to sound out the name written in Hebrew. But I doubt it was kosher
