I think it’s easy to overstay the case here. We also tend to obey authority because most of the time, it makes sense to do so. Doctors know more about medicine than I do, so I should listen to them about medicine. Most of the time….

I considered it, briefly, but decided against it, for a number of reasons: first, because the columnist who quoted it praised "the obvious truth it contains" (his words), and it's more important to spread the idea; second, because the quote plus his comments is pretty much "fair use," copyright-wise; third, because it would be a lot of bother for little return even if successful; and, last but not least, it would destroy whatever cover my posting nic provides.

So the columnist does, indeed, explicitly say that he's quoting a post he read elsewhere?  (Again, I could not open the National Post link)

If so, I certainly agree that there's no reason to challenge him.

On my Mac, I was able to read the document in Reader View. It's not a bad article, and does a service of gathering these tidbits into a more cohesive article. But the ending (" I expect mild praise for today’s venture into opinion recycling") made me LOL. Give that man an environmental award!

I'm thinking the default position anyone should take about anyone who works in DC is, "assume they have classified information." As we've seen with the FBI going after Trump, there was a lot of information that was classified that probably didn't need to be, but the classification protected government buddies.
