At least one of the members of the so-called Citywide Crisis Prevention and Response Unit. in Chicago, a group of "peacekeepers" to help with deescalation, turns out to be a convicted felon out on parole. And we thought the UN peacekeepers were bad. They were just the start.

Reply to vxbush in 17: One off. A major project is going out to manufacturing this week. Lots of last minute details. Part of the give and take of my position, salaried, but I get a lot of schedule flexibility. Which is a huge benefit. Everything is task and schedule based. If I have everything on track, skipping out for an afternoon is perfectly fine.

On Amtrak en route to NY. Just outside Baltimore, some kid outside threw a rock, breaking a window in the Cafe Car. On the Metro on the way to Union Station, I saw one guy jump the turnstile, then another one cut into the line on the escalator and glare menacingly at the people behind him. All of the people I just described were white supremacists wearing MAGA caps.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 26: I saw part of a video the other black kid in St. Louis went to a Trump rally. He was going to stir anything up, just to see the reaction of the Trump supporters. He was totally blown away about how friendly everyone was toward him.
