So have you all heard the bestest idea yet for fighting global warming? They think that blocking the sun will be just the ticket!

I've read science fiction stories about blocking the sun, and in one prominent case the issue was that an alien species was trying to kill all the humans. I get the feeling that the folks suggesting these ideas have never actually explored what might happen through fiction or, better yet, actual science.

Speaking of science fiction, this story may not have a happy ending, I fear--but if there is a story out there explaining how this is safe based on science, I have yet to see it.

My phone's news feed shows me articles from "Bring A Trailer", "Barn Finds", "Curbside Classics" and others.

I want TAIL FINS and taillights that look like rocket exhausts!

Next door neighbor had one a lot like this. As a little kid (maybe 10) I imagined it as a rocket.

Sterilized mosquitoes have been released in the past. IIRC, so have genetically modified ones. Releasing creatures with a genetic defect is safer than releasing other genetically engineered organisms, as they tend not to survive well.

I know I should believe that, but after watching what the leadership in this country (and elsewhere) have done, I am extremely cautious these days. COVID burned a lot of trust out of me.

It certainly is.  But I can't imagine regularly finding a parking space for a car of that size on a New York street---especially with alternate-side parking---nor bear thinking about the damage and vandalism it would sustain in the process.

Done right, genetically modified organism can be safe and effective. Like the enhanced oil eating bacteria and previous work with release of sterilized members into an invasive species population.

That said. After COVID my trust in the agencies who determine "safe and effective" has been destroyed. And I am now all for a much more cautious approach with a great deal more peer review and study.

Well, a big black Caddilac that looks like it belongs to a Mob boss might be safe in NY

My dad sold Buick, Cadillac, Pontiac and GMC vehicles and had a used white convertible one like the one above.  I actually drove it for a few days before my high school gradualation.

Was it fun? Personally, I like sports cars (but I drive a Honda Fit), but that does look like a great road cruiser. And it is the size of a cruiser ship!

I remember driving a company station wagon and parking it in Kenmore Square, Boston, when I had a summer job t a small discount store chain, to go to their ad agency. Another time I drove a VP's Chevy Monte Carlo. Both of those had hoods you could launch aircraft off of. The wagon was easier to park because you could see where the stern was from the tailgate window.

It wasn't really fun but I probably enjoyed showing it off, LOL.  I had much more fun with a one year old used GTO with a stick shift.  I drove that one the whole summer.
