Wow. That's quite a vista in that picture today. Farmers Insurance Company Pulls Out of Florida – Another 100,000 Policies Will Not Be Renewed The only person I see talking about this (in Florida) is Sundance--or at least, that's the only place that's showing up in the places I read. The insurance industry is NOT doing well; it costs so much more to rebuild things in the Biden economy. Don't I remember seeing a story about insurance woes in California, too? Why yes. Yes I did.

Reply to vxbush in 1: The author says he was critical of FL insurance regulations... but not what the problem actually is. Closest I can come is property values are too high and insurance companies are avoiding the risk of paying out on high value properties.

I think the impact of being in a hurricane zone is also playing strongly into this. Hurricane Ian cost boatloads to recover from, and a lot of the work isn't done yet. Add in the Biden economy and the outlay in costs is close to astronomical.

And, times being what they are, I also have to wonder if this isn't a political ploy aimed at DeSantis.

Reply to Occasional Reader in 5: That crossed my mind, the article said the policies were pre-DeSantis. That doesn't mean the insurance companies aren't playing politics.
