One of the guys on my team is a US citizen, born here. He is Mexican heritage and married a mexican woman.

It took 2 and half years to get his wife and child into the US legally, absolutely ridiculous.

Just by the way, the Formby song, from 1932, is itself a riff on the song "Limehouse Blues," from 1924.  Limehouse was the area that was the London Chinatown---and also one of the poor-Jewish ghetto neighborhoods.   It is memorialized in Sax Rohmer's book of short stories, "Tales of Limehouse."  Rohmer, you may remember, was the deeply-racist adventure/mystery author who invented Fu Manchu.

The only reason I'm familiar with the song is that it's played in the background in a fairly lengthy sequence in the quite good 2011 film version of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
