Did This Microsoft Engineer Just Save the Internet From State-Backed Hackers? This has been huge news in the world of IT and has been causing a lot of angst about open source projects and who is allowed to work on the most important libraries related to computer security. From what little I've spent time reading about this, the two big issues are that no one did any code review of this person's changes and no one confirmed that the compiled code he provided matched the source code. So he was able to provide not horrible source code but really bad compiled code, and he almost wasn't caught. Almost. For once, I am very thankful for this engineer at Microsoft.

Never mind the 28 EO's of Trump's Biden overturned day one. That's why I was surprised they called it a "rule", and not an executive order. It made it sound like it wasn't initiated by Biden but by a separate committee. Perhaps that was the point.

Reply to vxbush in 11: The legislature writes a law very loosely. The the agencies take that "law" and create "rules" from it Rules that become effectively "law" and are enforced and people go to jail over them. One of the most insidious over reaches of government. The Beltway Bandits know exactly what they are doing. A couple of cases recently, most notably SCOTUS restricted the EPAs Clean Water Act.

4.8 earthquake rattles NYC, NJ, and beyond
No reports yet of damage or casualties, thankfully. This seems like it was nothing, compared to the greatest earthquake ever known, which was that faced by Marshall, Will and Holly, while on a routine expedition in 1974.
