State Department Official Baffled by Concept of Winning War

“I can’t recall, at least in recent memory, a period in which an escalation or intensification led to a fundamental de-escalation and led to profound stabilization of the situation,” the State Department official told reporters Monday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

US, France working on a 21-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon

I think that means Hizballah needs 21 days to get new pagers.

Heh. Lots of upwardly mobile opportunities....until you get your mobile, that is.

These are not men with chests, that's for sure.

Joe Biden, the present that keeps on giving. From Stephen Green at PJMedia:

Anointed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris promises "a new way forward," but Presidentish Joe Biden said today he delegated "everything from foreign policy to domestic policy" to Harris because "as vice president, there wasn't a single thing that I did that she couldn't do" and everybody with functioning synapses wants to know, "Which is it, bub?"

So we can lay the last four years totally on Harris, can we? That actually makes a bit of sense. She was so out of her depth that it demonstrates why she can't get back into that position again. Ever.

Latest news in the revealing of information about the assassination attempt on Trump in July: Not only did everyone not speak on the same communications system, but there were technical issues with SS radios. (Didn't they learn to test their equipment BEFORE they deploy it?)

Several USSS officials reported experiencing technical problems with their radios at the rally, and told the Committee such problems are common for USSS: A USSS Hercules 1 counter sniper was offered a local radio on July 13 but said he did not have time to pick it up because he was occupied fixing technical problems with his USSS radio.  In addition, at the Pittsburgh airport before the motorcade left for the rally, the USSS Special Agent in Charge (SAIC) of the Pittsburgh field office gave the Lead Agent his radio because the Lead Agent’s radio was not working.

Also noteworthy: the SS was going to have a drone at the sight, but the operator had at most 3 months of experience and was trying to get someone at the manufacturer to help him get the drone in the air.

Top men, people. Best of the best, they say.

I wonder if anyone at Department of Defense has a clue on that subject.

Gee it's almost like they wanted something to happen.

"Rather than understanding wars, officials talk in terms of ‘escalation’ or ‘deescalation’ which is the same lunatic philosophy that led to Oct 7 on the theory that some state of low-level conflict could forever be sustained as long as both sides were being monitored and persuaded to deescalate the conflict as if the thing at issue here were a simmering rivalry between 5th graders and not a zero-sum conflict with Islamic terrorists." [Emphasis mine]

Bingo.

And now we're seeing breathless reports about how "Israel has rejected the US 21-day ceasefire proposal!"  {Never mind that Hizballah rejected it, too.]

What, exactly, would be the point of such a "ceasefire"?

Same as the one proposed for Gaza; to save the jihadist terrorist organization.  That's it.

The other factor I see at play is so many people have their rice bowls tied to the "peace process". Similar to the homeless industry complex or a myriad of other issue advocacy groups.

Their self interest, their identity, their raison d'être is the conflict. Any resolution and they perceive the loss of everything.

Pedantik Korner:  C. S. Lewis's "men without chests" metaphor was not referring to men who lacking courage or strength (the way we think of manliness as connoted by a powerful chest); rather, he was using the chest as the metaphorical area between reason (brain) and emotion (heart), connoting a healthy balance between the two.

I'd agree that's a factor.  But don't discount the sheer inability/unwillingness of the average "Progressive" to envision fighting a war to a victorious conclusion (other than against us, of course).  I know these people... the idea is anathema to them.

You're right, of course, but that's the first line that popped into my head when reading the story. Mea culpa.

Outraged Trump-Supporting Mom Confronts and Blasts School for Forcing 17-Year-Old to Register to Vote Democrat Without Her Consent, Claiming Trump Win Would ‘Doom Black People’!

I have never ever heard or seen anyone go after 17-year-olds at school and ask them to register. This is in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and seems to be yet another vector of getting more names on the voter rolls so more votes can be filled out for Harris.

People who wish to engage in a non-escalated conflict agree to engage in binding arbitration.   The "cease-fire" advocates, by contrast, want Israel to subject itself to blinding Arab attrition.
