I'm pretty sure everyone with a rational brain cell or two expected the media meltdown that happened Monday and into Tuesday at the start of the Trump administration, but Sarah Anderson has a wrap-up of all the exploding heads that is noteworthy. The dual standards presented by these talking heads mouths is not unexpected but really painfully obvious.

Topics these people thought worthy of spending brain cells on included the following:

  • U.S. entering a new era of imperialism (yawn)
  • illegal immigrants crying at broken promises to come into the US via CBP One and the state of emergency at the Mexican border (300,000 children missing isn't a big deal to these people)
  • "wealthy people" at the inauguration, especially the rich tech folks like Tim Cook and Jeff Bezos
  • catty reviews of Melania Trump's wardrobe choice
  • so-called Nazi salutes by Elon Musk
  • Inaugural addresses that aren't supposed to be political
  • deepfakes and misinformation
  • and, of course, all the pardons of January 6 detainees
  • Baron's height

I suspect they are only going to get worse unless the management at these institutions start to pivot to more balanced coverage because advertisers start fleeing these crazy people. There are only so many liberal fat cats able and willing to help these people out of the money pit they have carved for themselves.

We started seeing the fakery back during the second Iraq War and all the stupid stuffed animals in the rubble. How much farther can this go on?

I forgot:

  • Trump making it the official position of the government that there are only two genders

That alone is going to generate a whole ocean of tears, I'm sure.

Marco Rubio says it was a "dangerous delusion" to believe "that all mankind was destined to abandon national sovereignty and national identity" to "instead become...citizens of the world." "The postwar global order is not just obsolete—it is now a weapon being used against us."

Imagine that.

This is the one story that has me seriously concerned out of the new Trump administration, and that's investment going into AI work. My concern stems is just how much the deep staters in the federal government would LOVE to have AI figure out who each of us is so we can only pay for food and services if we hold their desired positions.

Is that what this does now? No. It's a decent first move to make sure we have enough electricity production for future AI and data storage systems, and it's also to ensure the data storage is here in the US and not somewhere like China where that government can abuse the information. But our own federal government is just as capable of abusing information. Before this move, the Biden administration had told these AI companies they had to share "safety test results" with the U.S. Government. The current rules will be in place only as long as someone of the same mind as Trump has the presidency, but there's no guarantee that deep state actors aren't going to steal information anyway.

There's potential for a lot of good, and potential for a lot of harm. I'm not thrilled with Real ID and I can totally see this putting together my online profiles and linking them to my Real ID.

Good morning.

Gosh, I wonder why Biden's family members needed all those preemptive pardons?  It's a real puzzler, I tellya.

So, as a citizen of the world, where do you go when your house is stolen, or someone steals your identity, or you get kidnapped by a terrorist organization? Do they have a protection plan from someone?

"Unlike their activity in other conflicts, not once did the [International Committee of the Red Cross] ever meet with a single hostage during their captivity since being seized on October 7. The relief agency never provided them with comfort, deliver needed medicines, or assure their safety. Not once in these 471 days."

Disgusting. But of course this is the same UN that runs UNRWA, so, not surprising.

By the way... I thought 'Doron" was a male name in Hebrew?  Or is it dual-use technology, so to speak?  Anyone know?

My vast, encyclopedic knowledge about the matter comes entirely from the fact that the lead (male) character in the series Fauda is named Doron.

Well, that's still more knowledge than I have, alas.

Police arrested a suspect, a 28-year-old Afghan man, shortly after the stabbings and were working with the public prosecutor’s office to identify a motive, authorities said.
