Wait--an actual budget? Not a continuing resolution? At $5 trillion?

Reply to vxbush in 2: Abolish and replace with something that will genuinely project kids from real harm.

Reply to vxbush in 3: First time since 1996. A real budget? I'm damn near swooning. Next budget broken into separate budgets by dept. Then zero based.

Reply to JCM in 4: Having been involved on the foster parent side for 15 years it a tough one. We saw so much abuse and incompetence by CPS. Then you get foster parents who game the system for a check. Parents who get shafted by the system, and others who should have their kids taken away who skate through. By definition all the cases are hard cases, and hard cases make for bad law. How far do we let religious belief dictate medical care? How strict is too strict? How lenient is too lenient? All of that is very subjective, and a horrible basis for creating law, or standards or guidelines. I can make the case that veganism for children under 6 causes retarded brain development. I'm very much for parental rights being broad and very tough to breach. At the same time our adopted son when we got him at three months had a broken femur, broken ribs, liver bleed and detached retina from being body slammed into the steering wheel by his biological father. There is a place for CPS... but highly restructered.
