So, does anyone think there is a possibility that Musk's founding of "a new party" is a head-fake done in concert with Donald Trump to try and and gather in disaffected Democrats and Republicans both under an initially-"neutral" banner that will then throw its support to the more-conservative Republicandidates?

I am not sure. It could also be something to break the Democrats into the Very Loony Party and the Somewhat Sane Party. The problem with that is some states will end up with just Very Loony Dummycrats running.
