Seriously? Oh, dear. Let me add my condolences. Just keep in mind that this will embolden Pelosi to not put the USMCA up for a vote, as she should.

Morning, campers.

Thanks, we are going to be in for a world of hurt up here. A minority government propped up by the NDP. So governmental statists upheld by communist socialists. The "good" news is that the Conservative party did better than the last election. They should have done much more. Scheer will be patting himself on the back over this, yet I have a feeling that there will be knives being sharpened and looking for prime pieces of real estate on that back.

It's terrifying to think there are legions of young people whose heads are filled with this mush.

I imagine the "Scheer madness" thing has already been very played-out, so I'll refrain.

I haven't stopped drinking... I can't believe how badly the Conservatives did in Toronto & the surrounding area. Of the 59 seats in the urban arc stretching from Hamilton in the west to Whitby in the east, the Liberals got 54, the Conservatives 3 and the NDP got 2.

Scheer ran a dull, uninspired campaign. Trudeau ran a cynical dirty campaign with the full media complex behind him. Even though the Liberals were reduced to a minority government, with the support of the NDP & the Greens Trudeau will govern for 4 more years.

Canada is well & truly fucked.

Western separatism will be rising again. People in the east think it's a joke, but if the West leaves, central & eastern Canada will lose.

Out of curiosity- IF there is separatist effort, where do you think the demarcation would be. It seems to me that everything west of the center of Ontario and north of there would fit most comfortably with a West Canada polity. That would probably leave Quebec dominant in the East.

I'm curious as to how viable either part would be economically.

How likely do you think that is?  I'd always thought that was rather like Quebec separatism, all talk and no action.

One of the key differences is that the western prairies have more natural resources then Quebec ever did. With the rise of oil and the oil sands, Alberta has become a large contributer to the federal economy. Quebec has almost always been a taker, relying on funding from other provinces. The west has been hampered by the federal government sucking up to environ-mentals and stopping or delaying any pipeline that would ensure greater resource exportation either to the east coast or the west coast. BC coasties and Quebec politicians have also been key in denying the pipelines.

So you can see how frustrated the west is becoming. All this election proved was that we have become far more divided than ever.

One reason I am interested in this issue is its relevance to the ongoing discussion about Kalifornia being parceled out. It also may have some bearing on the US in general because of the increasing disparities between the coasts and the core.

Seems at least possible that the Quebecois and any separatist movement might join forces.

With the imbalance of resources in favor the West and the (I believe) imbalance of population in favor of the East, it would be entertaining to see which prospers. My own bet would be that the East would be a chillier version of Detroit or Chicago (albeit with better restaurants!) within about 10 years.

What has been decided:

1. Wearing blackface is ok, as long as you are a leftist.

2. Describing a star chamber prosecution where the accused is not allowed to face his accusers nor allowed to have representation or even allowed to provide a defense, can’t be called a lynching.

fun times.

Lindsey Graham comes out of hiding.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Tuesday said President Trump is absolutely right to call the House impeachment process a “lynching.”

“This is a lynching in every sense. This is un-American,” Graham said to reporters.

“I’ve never seen a situation in my lifetime as a lawyer

Yes, because they're [consulting notes] racist, or something.   (They may also contribute to climate change, i'll get back to you on that once the appropriate talking points are issued.)

Sorry I haven't commented much lately.  I've been hiding under the bed with the dog.  I know, I know, my parents wouldn't be very proud of me, but really...  I think instead of choosing Alice in Dairyland for my user name I should have chosen Alice in Wonderland, because I truly believe I've fallen through the looking glass.  When the best story out there is Sarah's about the  salon workers win, it's hard to stay optimistic.
