Good morning from the damp and foggy suburbs of Atlanta.

Women don't exist -- get over it.

Very good summary of the argument.

How appropriate that the article in your link should appear on the eve of Halloween---not merely because Halloween is a holiday of dress-up and masquerade, but because back in the day Halloween was the unofficial "gay national holiday," as it was the one day of the year when cross-dressing was, if not legal, at least winked at, and consequently the traditional date for holding drag balls.

Both links are the same. The Federalist piece is right on target. I never thought I'd feel ideologically close to lesbian feminists on gender issues.

For a moment I thought the woman in the photograph was about to eat a small turtle. Anyway, happy birthday!

Yes, I know they're the same.  Actually, it's just one -- I highlighted both lines when I put in the link.

I was momentarily reminded of the story Tales of a Fourth-Grade Nothing*, which I read in, you guessed it, Fourth Grade; the plot to which features the eating of a small turtle.

And again, I truly do not understand Instagram culture (and the like).  I feel like a visitor from another planet, or perhaps Rip Van Winkle.  Whence the urge to put one's self out there in this fashion in front of millions - if not billions - of total strangers?

I will re-raise something I commented on yesterday.

The Democrats have repeatedly proven they cannot run or maintain small, or relatively small, closed man-made systems.  They could not prevent the water systems of Flint, or of Newark, breaking down and becoming contaminated with lead.  They could not maintain California's water system and expand it to meet the needs of the growing population, and the risks from wildfires.  They cannot maintain the roads and bridges and transit systems built by previous generations more competent than they.

If they cannot handle, cannot maintain, cannot administer or competently operate these closed, relatively-small, and manmade systems, how could anyone trust them with the task of altering and regulating the climate of the planet, which they seek to assume?

I don't get Instagram, either. I gave up Facebook so now I just do Twitter. Oddly, I'd rather chat with strangers than most of my friends.

True.  But I posit the above merely to point out that these things are evidence of the manifest incompetence of those who are demanding unprecedented control.

Let's say that "global warming/climate change" is real, and a matter of concern---not that I think it is, but let's concede that point for the sake of argument.  The record of those demanding to be in charge of addressing it is proof positive that even if everything they say is true, they are wholly incapable of dealing with the issue even if we knew exactly what to do.

Now, now, in fairness, they're not really trying to do that... rather, they seek to use "the climate of the planet" as an excuse to alter and regulate all human activity.   There.  Don't you feel better?

The idea of chatting with strangers, sure, I get that and of course engage in it.  It's the idea of putting out my private life - including photos, video, etc. - in front of countless strangers, that I don't get.

Oh, I understand that, and agree.

I'm merely suggesting that pointing out this record of incompetence in handling small, or relatively-small, controlled, man-made systems, and the incapacity of handling even such relatively simple matters as avoiding the risk of wildfires by clearing the brush that feeds them, proves that whatever they are demanding should be pre-emptively denied on the grounds of proven, manifest incompetence.

One can argue with someone about "global warming/climate change" on a "scientific" basis endlessly to no purpose; it's like an ongoing, never-ending version of the card-game "War."  It leads nowhere.  It seems to me that pointing out the proven incompetence of these people handling even small, man-made problems might alter some minds---if not to persuade them that "climate" alarmism is nonsense, at least to persuade them that the people demanding drastic measures to address it should not be permitted to have such power.

If one believes in the beneficence of Nature, as the environmentalcases claim to do---isn't that why they're always prating about humans not doing this or that to Mother Earth?---then the idea that we humans now have to "save the planet" is an innate contradiction to their underlying belief system.

You can set your account so only friends/followers can see it. My DIL has a private Instagram account with pictures of my granddaughter, travel pics, etc. When I had FB, it was set to private. I don't think people need to know every move you make, and it's especially dangerous to post pictures of children. On Twitter, I occasionally post pictures of myself and my boyfriend on an evening out, like our anniversary, or a selfie when the topic is new haircuts. Why people want a million strangers up in their business, I can only ascribe to vanity.
